Buying Monero is a smart move now. The dark markets will absorb tons of moneros and the longer they continue doing so the bigger XMR scarcity there will be in open markets. Therefore any amount of Moneros will be a god investment if you ask me. If you can afford to buy Moneros for 10 btc, then go for it. If you can afford to buy only 1 XMR, go for it. Just treat Monero in more valuable manner than bitcoin, and hold it the longest time. I suggest to hold until 2030 Moneros. Then we have minimum blockreward, the Monero economy probably consists a lot of people, not just criminals and junkies. I'm a normal person and I prefer Monero over bitcoin, and I am sure there are billions of people like me.

@Dafur, given your track record of late trading XMR I'd say you have zero chance of not fiddling with these investments until you have 'traded' them to 5BTC or less and picking numerous fights with people along the way. You can't buy patience.

This trade is looking better and better with every passing day, my friend! Not so much balls of steel, as prescient timing! Wish I had done the same as decisively!

10 btc in XMR and 10 btc in ETC? geez its a big profit i think. for monero, yes its should give you big profit with the increasingly of the price. but for ETC, i think it will need for while before the rate is increase too.
its a good idea that you do this and buy XMR and ETC while the rate is low, and just wait for a while, and then sell it when the rate is up. but i think, don't buy all of your btc, keep for few btc just in case if you need something.

XMR => moonero ETC => eats total crap If you want to invest on long term, find a new altcoin that is very cheap right now and wait for a miracle. Miracles do happen!

OP really had some balls. Right now it doesn't look good for him. On the other hand things may change again. And if not, those 20BTC may be just a small portion of his stash. If however he should have done this with ignoring risks and is now having more skin in the game as he can afford, then yes it would be plain stupid.

I'm sure someone who can invest 20 BTC on an altcoin speculation isn't digging through dumpsters to find their next meal. And if these coins make a big gain what will the haters say then? OP will look like a fucking genius lol.
Personally I think both of these coins have potential to make some gains from where they are today, though I don't know what OP paid for them since this post is a month old already and XMR was much higher before the recent dip.

depends on whether he sold or not. did he say what price he bought at? I can't be bothered to check out the charts. the poloniex pumpers have warped the alt market so much there's no real way of knowing where any of these coins are headed. the only demand there is is demand for a pump. a lot of money's been made but nothing's been contributed to any project's future. but yeah, the only time to buy is when something's asleep or in the doldrums.

overall, investing in XMR has been the best decision of my life since i made a lot of profit from the multiple rises and if OP had invested too, i am sure he enjoyed the ride also.
but ETC has been a real surprise and also a real disappointment for me since i was expecting a lot more rises rather than just small short movements.

it was free and you're disappointed? wow. i'd be pretty pleased. etc has to do more than just not be eth any more. it needs to deliver on its ethos or it's gonna slowly fade away into irrelevance.

If you are investing with such amounts into altcoins you have balls of steel if you are asking me because these altcoins mostly still have to proof themselves these days and its also that they can get dumped in a short time period due to this I think its smart but on the other hand stupid.

I currently hold XMR worth 5.6 BTC, if you buy xmr during one of the horrible dips you do have balls of steel, but the real challange is not selling too early.
I of course i like ETC better than ETH but i will not hold any of these, they can both lose more than 90% of the value.
