Introducing new currency: Bytecoin
June 11, 2011, 06:20:56 PM

Same concept as Bitcoins but they are worth 8 times more, so they are 8 times better. Discuss.

Original post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=15130.0

So the idea that's an exact copy of Bitcoin isn't even an original idea.  Bravo Maria, you've outdone yourself Roll Eyes

That post is well written and fully discussed. Very interesing views and opinions. Next.

We are waiting for bitinstant to release a payment so we can pay for the server. Why are they having so much trouble processing orders? Could they be insolvent, and are taking new deposits to cover old pending orders?? Hmmm... Makes me wonder

Riiiiiiiight. Because for something so stupendous and epic as BytchCoin, you'd go through a service with a history of delays and processing problems to pay for your server. Suuuuuuuure. That sounds totally plausible.

Just holler "April Fools!" and get it over with so your dreck can drop off the front page.

Ahaha, so many people biting. This was the best april fools/troll ever.

Now that the troll was executed successfully, it could actually be fun to run an alternate blockchain, for the sake of trolling.

'Bytecoin' is a good name in the sense that many people would take it serious "trollcoin" would be oo obvious.

An exact alt coin, No changes at all. Think of it as a bitcoin re-launch, a fresh start for those who started mining late.

Oh dear, someone's annoyed they missed the boat.

Yeah, you can easy start a new block chain. Won't be worth nothing though. Value == zero.

Epic fail.

Oh dear, how much did bitcoin value when satoshi launched the genesis block?

Sign.... It doesn't work like that.

We don't want 2 blockchains on the go. Think of the confusion with addresses.
You clearly haven't thought this through properly.

on the contrary this is a much bigger deal than it first appears. one blockchain will never be able to hold all of the worlds transactions, not even if bitcoin devs eliminate the 1mb block size in favor of infinate block size. A second blockchain is not just a good idea, its an inevitability and if you are going to make a second blockchain why mess with a good thing? we know bitcoin works, its been vetted, it is best just to make a carbon copy of bitcoin.

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

That's the problem, it has  no feature that is different because it is exactly the same.

I'm actually trying to get out of this newbie section to buy some bytecoins from someone. Does anyone have any to offer? If you are in the main alt currency forum and are reputable I will send first. Looking for 1btc worth.
