The excessive lag on this occasion was caused by a DDOS, and was suffered by other exchanges too.
My statement above still stands, but Mt Gox think they know what is causing the slowness and are working to fix it.

you know that the euro trading engine is the same as the usd engine? you can see this because the lag on both is always the same got some poor coding skills there at MtGox but they dont give a shit as they are raking millions per day  they wont fix it until that status quo is in danger |

Mark Karpeles is a failed coder that inherited GOX overnight, and has no fucking clue what to do with it, neither technologically or business wise.
