When did you realize that Bitcoin was truly "legitimate" and could revolutionize the way the world transacts and conducts day-to-day business?
What was the moment where all of the pieces fell into place for you? Obviously, there are always new things to learn - but what was it that HOOKED you?
Your responses are very helpful, and very much appreciated. THANK YOU!

Microtransactions. I edited a picture for a friend and sent it across to him. I joked that I would have charged him a dollar, but he was on another continent. Then I realized that he could still send me bitcoins.

i read the code and seen it as legit. (does what it says on the tin). done some trading to make some bitcoin..
but the ultimate hook. was when i made a transaction to a fast food restaurant, and within 35 minutes there was a knock at my door with the nice smell of food getting delivered. i then knew it was real and useful and had lots of potential.
in my eye, even altcoins that just "do what they say on the tin" are not worth anything if you cant buy anything in the real world with it.

Well it can revolutionize the way we spend, use money and earn it. Lower fees, ability to store it urself without banks, to mine it if yoiu want to, anonimity and the speed of transactions from user to user. Some of the things that got me hooked are the price, the way to earn btc here and the easines of selling it for fiat.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

What got me into bitcoin? How unique it is. It's everything PayPal is not. Decentralized, no refunds, a strong community. What more could one ask for?

No refunds and no chargebacks is a great feature for merchants, for sure.
(No refunds unless they want to offer one, of course!)

What made Bitcoin interesting and got me so hooked is its ability to change its price die to its volatility. One day you have a Bitcoin worth $576 next day is a new day and it may jump to $590 or give you an instant loss if it drops to $550. It may not be accepted by a lot of merchants for now but Bitcoin have potential of making it big in few years to come.

Time from when i started to like how bitcoin works is hard for me to remember but after doing few transactions in early days i like the concept of bitcoin. From that time i am using bitcoin because in Nepal paypal like payment processor doesn't operate as well as our banks don't distribute globally accepted visa/mastercard credit cards. So for me bitcoin has become only option to do international transactions as well as concept of decentralization make it more secure.

Thanks for the response! For sure, the fact a simple "token" that is traded peer-to-peer was able to attain such a large amount of value - volatile or not - and for such a long period of time, just goes to show how powerful the technology is.
The beauty is in it's simplicity. There are a lot of complicated things happening behind the scenes to secure/build on the network but the function of Bitcoin itself is very straightforward.

What got me hooked was the idea, the concept of a free (as in freedom of speech) currency and ledger.
What got me unhooked was the horrible implementation, lack of privacy, lack of capacity, lack of development, bad economic model, use of outdated crypto and more, maybe worse of all, an extremely toxic and greedy community.

This is great to hear! Access is very important and a core feature of Bitcoin. The unbanked are a huge population. Do you mind if I ask what kinds of products/services you've bought from Nepal? Or do you use it mostly for money transfers to friends/family/etc abroad? Thank you!

Thanks for sharing. I'm sorry you consider yourself unhooked. Do you have another cryptocurrency that you prefer now? There are certainly many innovative currencies on the market!
