Electrical company keeps checking my box! WTF!!!! SOS plz HELP!

please help me. The power guy checked my meter yesterday. When he looked its like his eyes almost popped out of this head. He even looked at it again 3 times to make sure!!!

Then today what do you know!!! He showed up again! This time about two hours later! He looked took some notes. Then went to talk away and took a video with his iPhone!!!! I am so worried bros.

To be clear I live in WA state. To the best of my knowledge they cant and will not raid / harras you for just electricity. Please advise on this and when I say harras I mean raid. A terrifying experience I never want to go through again.

I have read mining forums and grow forums. So far I have yet to read one about a raid just off electricity? I think they need a lot of factors. Many forums say women with tanning beds hot tubs and all kinds of junk easily load down the house boxes...

Addiationally right now I am running about 15000 watts 24/7on a 200 amp box. should I be worried about the power guys? Should I call them and clear my name? Help please.

Do Helocopters fly over your house at night ?

Hover for a while right overhead?

If they do they are imaging for grow lights.

Don't run any grow lights you should be fine.

I ran grow lights one winter and in about one month Helocopters started to hover over my home mostly at night.

I have a much longer story but I was growing a fig tree for my wife.

Sounds weird but I will explain.

Her dad came from Italy and would grow tomatoes and fig trees in his back yard.

He died in 2002. She was sad so I promised her I would take cuttings of the fig trees.

I got the black fruit fig tree to grow but the white fruit fig was very hard to get started.

So I said to her if we get high end grow lights I will get the fig tree to make it by the winter.

I found out a major grow house was busted 1/2 mile from my home and my house attracted the cops attention.

So I showed this fig tree  in my garage to the mailman, to the mallman sub, to the ups guy and to the FedEx guy. Over the
Week or two the Helocopters stopped going over my house.

I then put the tree out in the summer built a green house over it and it is alive to this day.

I'm in OR next door and both of our states have legal recreational marijuana

So I think the power company is just verifying the usage bro.

Call them up and try to negotiate and better business tier rate for such high usage

as for that I think also they are not focused on canna anymore or power usage. wa and or are similar that if you are not d*cking around and putting people in harms way, or trying to sell and undercut the shops from what I have heard they always leave you alone



And omg about that ups guy story. so you are basically implying one of those guys obv were a narc. obv. have thought the same for years. This past ups people at this location have sent literally a new ups guy everytime. I have gotten 3-4 shipments so far. first was a hot blond the rest a diff guy every time (same shift). So crazy I know. so shady.

As for the negotiating the power. well they actually charge almost double for commercial. which is why I want to never go commercial here and just run a few smaller buildings that way I control more monopoly.

obv they are not dumb tho and know this loophole and they are prob looking for all idiots trying to exploit it which is why I am double scared. regardless at least my neighbors are the coolest Mexican families you have ever met always chilling and minding there own time and business.

that's legit. res is 2.5 cents here and 3.5 mersh. bummer I know. totally stupid but they have all types of regs in place to make all mersh folks go further west.

this is opressionville usa they even have community detention. i.e. if you break one of there laws they will legally trap you in there town where all wages are $10 or less an our. officially ruining your life and oppressing you further.

many reasons I am scared of that power dude. he was a skin head hate to profile but that either means I'm cool or he was a cop.

I had the pigs knock on the door to have a look arround for cash activity on my account(local btc trades) and 5kw power draw, their dog found a 2 months old roach from a friend and I explained them what was up with the power and they left me alone ever since, it's nice not living in 'murica sometimes (except I pas .2eur/kw...)

I'd wait for the power companny to contact me and invite them arround the house to see it's no unusual activity, they'll let you alone after that, or simply ask the guy taking videos next time, it won't do you any good to look behind the curtains like a paranoid weth head (meaning no disrespect)

They could definitely be checking for a grow house. 
Even states where medical marijuana is allowed will bust a grow operation if it is too many plants.

If you have nothing to hide you could definitely call the power company and tell them you noticed someone coming to check the meters a couple times and wanted to know whats going on.

The friendly neighbourhood RCMP knocked at my door due to suspicion of a grow based on power usage, I politely asked them to return with a search warrant, which they did so in 24 hours. Much to their dismay all that was found were a bunch of antminers whistling away, apologies accepted

Thank you for this information. However, I believe the laws in Canada are much different. Although I am not a lawyer. As to the warrant I recently saw them pull a search warrant just in a few hours a couple houses over for an assault issue :/

UPS and your WA state electrical are not working together to find high usage off electrical, I would think electrical company does it on their own.  If you honestly thin you have peeked electrical companies interest you might just give them a call.  Tell them you saw the meter reader coming multiple times, and figure usage the reason and explain you run a lot of computer equipment (could say bitcoin asic but they most likely wont know what it is).   

Are you in a "free" electricity apartment or something like that?  I could see issues if you blew through tons of power on some setups like that.  But that would be very few in this category.

I am lucky and live on real farmland so they don't really care how much I use as long as I pay for it.  I have went up pretty high at times and lower at some times never had an issue.

I'm surprised nobody's ever come around asking at my shop in the last two years here. Sometime last summer a patrol car came by and talked to Novak out the window; apparently he thought the place was abandoned, even though we'd been here and operating for like 10 months at the time. The only time I've even seen the power company bat an eye was after we upgraded service and they came back out to recalibrate the meter.

But I bet a 5000 square foot with 100KW of power service would make a heck of a weed farm if I ever move out.

Yeah the amount of time it takes to get a search warrant depends on how much prep work they've done.
If they are ready to go it might only take a couple hours, but if they are still gathering evidence they aren't going to mention it to the DA or a Judge until they are pretty sure they have something.

I would have loved to see the faces on the cops serving a warrant, expecting a huge grow house, and seeing a bunch of bitcoin miners when they came in.
Although if it involved flashbangs, and guns pointed at me, maybe not...

Have you tried talking to one of these usps or electrical employees?  You'd be surprised how much information you can get by asking a question to the right people.  Maybe someone at usps is on vacation and they're filling in with temp employees?  Maybe the electrical company saw a sudden increase and wanted to make sure their equipment was functioning properly...  I think those are far more likely than some sting operation due to your electrical use.

 In Washington State at the power rates cited?
 The 2 county PUDs that get into that rate range for home electric KNOW about "bitcoin mining" very well indeed.


 As far as USPS being involved - probability zero.
 That's just excess paranoia worrying about it.

Don't worry so much.  Your not doing anything illegal by mining bitcoins (assuming thats what your doing).  If they ask questions just answer truthfully and youll be fine.

Definitely make sure you talk to the right person at the electric company, someone who actually knows about power. Friend of mine a couple years ago had his "smart meter" shoot craps, registering his daily power use at about 100 times what it actually was, more than enough for the pole transformer to burst into flames if the drop hadn't already melted. So he called the power company about getting that looked at, and they said no it was probably just increased because he installed a window unit AC and people always underestimate how much power those use.
