ESPN have ranked the top teams to be the winner of the world cup after the group stages draw with Brazil coming first with 20.8 percent ,Spain is the second with 15.9 percent ,Germany third with 10.9 percent , after that Argentina with 7.0 percent, then France with 6.0 percent, Belgium 5.7 percent ,Portugal 5.4 percent ,England 4.9 percent every group is represented with at least one team only Russia's Group A is the only group without a team ranked in the top ten contenders to be the next world cup winners.
According to the list of the favorites countries to win the World Cup, I am not surprised that England are not in the top ten teams to win the trophy and it's really not surprising considering that they are constantly being overhyped in all things. I am not sure that even Harry Kane's goals would be enough to help them. Those simulations are best possible in FIFA games on XBox or playstation . They don't transate into the performance on the field of play and so they can continue and tickle themselves and laugh but at the end of the day reality will be the final outcome and i suggest they run another simulation of how the FA president and his cohorts will react to their woeful show at the world cup.

Yeah, actually I don't think there's any real Group of Death in this edition of the World Cup. Of course we're not writing off Morocco and Iran but every one and their mother's bookie will have this group clearly headed by Spain and Portugal.
My dream match-up would be for England to top their group and for Senegal to get second in their... setting up an England Senegal Last 16. I'm putting in an early bet on both Senegal and Iceland to win it. Yes, I know it'll never happen but if it does, I'll be one happy punter! I am Liverpool and Mane is a central player for us, so Senegal going all the way would turn our beast into an unstoppable demon.
My more realistic ambitions would be for dear Messi and co to lift the trophy, but a lot of stumbles are to be expected from the other giants before this can happen.
Messi is one of those players that deserves to get a world cup, but like everything in life it is not about deserving it, it is about go there and get it, and now there are many teams that look very powerful, Germany looks as strong as ever, and their eternal rivals Brazil looks very strong as well.

I do not know how they arrived at those numbers Brazil is a good team but the favorite to win the world cup again is Germany, I will put Germany as the top team then Brazil, Spain, France and Argentina in that order, I do not think we are going to get a surprise team that wins this world cup.

I even think that brazil is now the worst generation for decades. Currently they rely too much on Neymar and Coutinho that even they are still less experienced, let alone Gabriel Jesus. Undoubtedly Germany is the strongest candidate for the champions. The depth of their squad is very strong. In fact they are champions in one of the last tournaments as they rely solely on young players.

They play attacking football that is lovely to watch. Look, for example, Mexico, they dominated and defeated last WC winner Germany. As we speak, Uruguay won match against Saudi Arabia and qualified for 1/8 finals. Whoever they face (Portugal or Spain), that match will be amazing to watch.

Uruguay is going to face Portugal and that is a very positive thing because I don't think that Portugal defense will be a that good against both Suarez and Cavani adding the strength of their Juventus Midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur I believe that Uruguay will be more favorite against Cristiano comrades I believe that Portugal have been lucky to qualify in this tournament because they were lucky to get that draw against Spain also Spain defense was too awful in this tournament while in their game against Morroco if Cristiano didn't score that early in the match I don't believe that they would won that game as for Spain they need to work on their defense Russia is not an easy opponent so they need to not underestimate them.

Amazing Russia managed to win on penalties and knock out Spain from World Cup! Amazing managed to save two penalties with absolutely brilliant saves! What an amazing win from underestimated Russia who wasn't given much chances of winning this match!
Now, Russia waits next opponent in match between Croatia- Denmark.

I think can win the tournament at this stage because this world cup seems to be favouring the underdogs and all the big boys are falling one after the other. After today's round of 16 games we'd see if there will be more upsets.

I was reading the last few pages and comments, and can't believe all the "top" countries that are already gone. Germany was the toughest to see gone as I was hoping they would reach back to back titles.
Additional thoughts? Argentina should have gone during the group stages, they have no team whatsoever, and I have never seen Messi play well with the Argentinian team, so no, he doesn't deserve a World Cup just for being Messi. Russia had a very easy group, but still I am glad to see them through quarter finals. I really wanted Mexico to beat Brazil today (I am sick of Neymar putting on a show every time he falls). Would have loved to see Peru reach the round of 16, they just had bad luck (however, even if they beat Croatia during the friendlies, it would have been tougher to face them during the actual World Cup, as I feel nerves are still a big factor playing against that team). What's up with the referees during this world cup? They have been awful!
I hope Croatia makes it to the finals and wins the title, but a part of me thinks they want Brazil to win after their embarrassing performance in 2014. Either that, or FIFA wants an underdog to take the title.

I am going to say I am really sad Japan didn't make it through, not that I didn't think Belgium didn't deserve to reach quarter finals cause they did. But in an ideal world, I would have preferred for England and Colombia to be left out (what an awful game from both teams), and Japan to make it to quarter finals.
