[PRE-ANN] Harambecoin - Hashing for Harambe

People have been talking about it, everyone has probably thought about it, so it was only a matter of time before someone came and built it – introducing Harambecoin!

A commemorative digital currency named in honor of the Gorilla that has captured all our hearts, Harambecoin is a small tribute to a large monkey.


RIP Harambe (1999 – 2016)

So what's this all about?

Before everyone starts blasting away with the inevitable criticism, here's a little bit about the vision. The goal of Harambecoin isn't to create some new complex crypto contract transaction layer that appeals to a smaller and smaller niche of enthusiasts, it's about bringing people together and hopefully bringing some of the fun back to the crypto world – the way Harambe would have wanted it.

Right now I'd love to hear from anyone interested in getting involved in this project in whatever way you would like. Coding skills are always in demand, but anything from graphic art, games, memes, or just coming to hang out is welcome. Hop onto IRC at #harambecoin on freenode or post in this thread.

Technical Specs [thus far]

Algo: Scrypt
Max Coins: ~2.5 billion
  -block reward decays at an exponential rate on a monthly basis
Block Time: 90s
Difficulty Retarget:
- still being tested; using variations on DGW and Digishield as well as some other methods that are less well known
 
Looking for some feedback into this, specifically if someone can give me a legitimate reason to go in a different direction with any of these parameters. Otherwise the majority of the code is complete and ready to go so I'm estimating launch in around a week or so.

Ok, I'm open to suggestions. I can alter the reward function and I'll post something showing the curve. How bout for starters if I take it down by a factor of 10 to ~250mil? Does that sound more reasonable?

Heh I like this number too. I actually designed the curve so that even though the reward rate drops off exponentially it should reach the max reward after right around 17 years. So I think 17 million coins over 17 years sounds like a win.
