Brock Turner, a 22 year old male white rapist from Stanford University, was released from jail after serving half of measly six month sentence, sparking protests nationwide. In comparison, Ross Ulbricht received life in prison for buying a bunch of coins. Hackers face more jailtime than rapists and murderers (Related: Hacker who exposed rapists by recovering deleted video to face more jail time than the rapist himself).

Police are on high alert for his safety, because he is obviously the victim here. His parents cited concern for his safety, because he is a convicted rapist walking free in just three months.

I think he will be re arrested and justice will be done, it's disgusting  for him to walk  free after such a minimal time.

i think rapists' not serving enough time in jail is compeletely unfair because it is very obvious that rape is more horrible crime than stealing or hacking. Rapists must languish in prison. they must die in there but hackers or any othey burglars dont need to stay in prison for a long time.

Btw I have no idea or interest in the specific of the case but the girl could have lied... It wouldn't be the first time that a woman lies about a rape... It's an easy tool for them to use without much penalty if found lying.

Rape is wrong. Is it illegal?

If the rapist was not charged correctly, he might have been sentenced and served time, in a way that he could come back against those who sentenced him. The judge might have been protecting himself and the legal system by freeing the guy.

With all the knowledge about common law coming back into the open, the legal system needs to be careful how they do things. The particulars of this case won't be known until we read the case paperwork. If the judicial system did something wrong in its prosecution of the case, the rapist might be able to come back on the judge with a due-process case against the judge.

The guy can't be tried again for the same crime, but the victim can file a claim in court in a different way, and make it worse on the guy by ordering a jury trial. If the guy is truly guilty, the jury might give him 20 years.

Btw, the jury can override anything the judge does. Look it up. It is called jury nullification. When you look it up, it may not be given the strength that it legally has by the publication wherein you look it up. So, research it deeply.

Yup, very close. It was actually his father, he said it to the press, not to the judge, and the exact quote was, that his sentence was "A steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action". Stanford hasn't made a statement about this.

Brock Turner's house is surrounded by very unhappy armed protesters, including one holding up a sign that says, "If I rape Brock I will do only 3 months".

One protester was also seen holding up a sign saying "Castrate Rapists"
