Sorry to post a new thread, but I'm very confused about this and can't find a sufficient answer through searching, although I only spent two hours looking and trying things to be fair.

I am looking for software to get me started on bit coin mining that's compatible with Mac OS. I've tried RPC Miner and I can't get it to actually mine. It just gives me errors. I've tried Diablo Miner and I can only find the windows version. I've tried bitminter, but I don't really know what that jnlp file is. It just opens up my app store and then doesn't do anything after that.

Any help or directions to a tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

JNLP on bitminter is a java file.  Make sure you have java installed and try bitminter again.

Thanks for the link. I hadn't seen it before, but I had already done everything it said, so that's no good. It just keeps saying:
"Could not retrieve work from RPC server.
CURL return value = 7"

Is there a way I can just open a Java file? My computer just keeps opening the app store when I try to run it. I must have Java installed because it shows the java logo for the file.

Either way, I appreciate the replies.

Never mind about Java. I just needed to update it I guess. Updating apparently means that I have to download some other thing and I can't use it in Chrome. I guess this seems like a bit more annoyance than its worth. Any tips on fixing the RPCMiner problem?
