Why Bitcoin Price Predictions for 2016 Range as High as $1200?

every single year we hear predictions about btc price to hit >1000$ ,sometimes even 2-3k $ level
but what we saw was 200$ low just a few months ago,followed by the >700$ peak and 600$ stabilisation
predictions are just speculations without anything to back them up,what you need is ANALYSIS which is prediction based on trends,events basically metrologically correct data ,something that can be measured
you cannot just say:"I think bitcoin would cost 1000$ because I want it to be so."
one also has to consider the so called "black swan" event(s)
(if you heaven't read Black Swan by Nassim Taleb yet,I would strongly encourage you to read it asap)
i.e. sudden global market collapse,blockchain hidden vulnerability discovered,war,new,better,crypto currency introduced and so on and so forth
with the amount of globalisation of the world we are living in  any event could have huge impact
and the price could go either way

Speculation, and we all know this speculation can be wrong or right and it is the right of every person to speculate something but not to the extent of  harming others.  That  is why many people said that bitcoin will hit this high or  low.  Anyway I agree that these so called event that will hinder the economic affair of the world whatever it is will have a great impact but it won't be bitcoin alone but to all currency that is afffected by such event.  But assuming that all is well until the end of 2016, i still don't think that bitcoin will hit 1.2k nor 1k  usd.  The reason is that there is no  big event yet to push it to that price unless it is being manipulated and whales wanted to create another late 2013 kind of a bubble.

i think because of the people interest and people investment in the field of bitcoin. as more and more people are taking interest in bitcoin and they are investing their assets in bitcoin therefore it is expecting that the price of bitcoin at the end of 2016 is going to make a new all time high price record.

They are depending that prediction on the last halving. Assuming what happen in the last halving would happen again this time. Some are even calculate higher than $1200.

It's a matter of demand, as more people get into BTC the demand rises and that is simple economics, price goes up when something is wanted.

Yes, you ware wright. The price can also go up if more people start using BTC. But expecting 800 dollars is realistic.

One month later after OP posted this thread we are still in the same price range for Bitcoin. I may have made a mistake by saying that Bitcoin might end up at under $600 by the end of the year but it is more likely that we will end up in the same price range by the end of the year. To make a statement that is on the safe side, what might happen is Bitcoin might end up being still under $650 until the end of the year and it might be a little longer than that.

But here is the good news. This new found stability is what might attract more people to invest in Bitcoin. Most of the mainstream investors value stability more because they are looking for an investment vehicle to park their funds. That is why gold is an attractive investment for them.

The price range that was set so high was simply because of the fact everyone was thinking that the halving would let us go to a next level price.
The downside is that it never happened but I'm positive and I think it will happen soon or later.

Well, until now the price of bitcoin is really stable. I do not even think whether bitcoin prices will reach $ 1,200 price or not at the end of 2016 but we all hope will be the highest price, so prepare for some bitcoin was not wrong. Bitcoin already reached the point over 1000$ per 1 BTC this summer. But the story with Bitfinex hacking crushed it's grow. Now the price is going up too slow, this days it seems the price even get frozen on the same level. I doubt that bitcoin will reach 1200$ this year. Next year maybe, but this year no for sure. yes that is right to so as more and more people are entering in the world of bitcoin so they are giving good support to bitcoin therefore people are expecting that the price of bitcoin will be trading above 1200 USD in next few month or just in the start of 2016.

In next 3 years or so, we can easily expect 1200$ price as a normal price (halving)
