TV series with main story line about cryptocurrency

its actually a real entertainment/action tv series
called "startup"
first mention of cryptocurrency is at 12minutes when they talk about developing their "Gencoin"
basically really gets into the whole crypto currency discussion at 28:30 onwards

Liked it..cryptocurrency in it is only really as a McGuffin to get the characters involved with each others stories and its more a slow build crime show.Shows promise and could turn into a solid watchable show.

It would be better if the show was about an altcoin group creating a coin that intends to scam people. The plot will be more exciting on how they con the bitcoin and altcoin worlds into believing that they are creating something new. Who is the most famous con artist in all of crypto? They story could be based in his exploits.

Hahahaha LOL maybe in this time and life of bitcoiners is already filling by a lot of drama and telenovela about the scammer, maybe if there a companies are wanna filming that will never get the ending on that story.

Sometimes I want to watch TV but I can't find any interesting show.It would be best if I get to watch show related to bitcoin. Also if the coin appear on TV then definitely many people will come to know about the coin we we will have more member in our bitcoin community. And we will have much more competition.

I will watch this later when I come home, it looks like something interesting. I don't is it good to make a movie or serial about scammers in bitcoin world, people who don't know nothing about btc will get wrong impressions about bitcoins.
I think much better story would be about future, some science fiction, where everyone use digital currencies, and fiat doesn't exist.

Yeah it is good to see that they have a topic on tv about cryptocurrency.  I was expecting that it is a tv series of developers and they are planning to make another crypto.  But it is a good thing that it was bring up to the tv and so people who are not aware of bitcoin or any digital currency will be curious and interested with how digital currency works.  It will put interest in people who are not into it.

It is nice to know that a TV Series mentioned something about Digital Currency. They do explain the advantage of using it (GenCoin), well, at least still a cryptocurrency. I think it will help in spreading the information to people who will watch it. I myself, if I'm not yet familiar with Digital Currencies, I would also be curious about it after watching the episode.

As far as I know there is only one series that is big and is revolving around crypto and that is Mr Robot season 2. I have never seen it but I always see people in Reddit talking about it. There are also a lot of "bitcoin accepted here" marks everywhere. I think its a futuristic series about hackers or something.

Actually i have also heard that, but i am still in the way to finish MR. robot season 1. I started it quite late after some friend of mine mentioned it is related to encryption, bitcoin and hacker.

Talking about this startup series i started today but it kinda boring to me not much action, will wait till episode 2. May be that will be little more spicy...

i really like it too, i think it is one of the most favorite shows that has ever been created ill definitely watch it more

im upto episode 6 at the time of writing this,
seems they are introducing cryptocurrency. but they are kind of missing the whole point.
EG
1. 6 episodes and all they are talking about is needing $$$$$
2. no talk about the distributed nature of no control (they say the words in 'presentations' but no scene shows it off)
3. the female character talks to a friend 'running' another altcoin.
4. they say they 'put $1.5mill into gencoin' then some hacker, hacks the girl and takes the $1.5m

in short, the whole 'needs $8mill to get started' one girl has the 'control key', hacker takes the money.. makes me think the creators dont understand cryptocurrency because most of the show is about the fiat side

though im only on episode 6 lets hope its just the intro, where soon they will flip the storyline to being about the crypto that doesnt need fiat

upto episode 9 and it seems they 'sold out' the crypto to a corporate investor. still nothing about open, decentralized peer-to-peer usage

Wow, it only shows that bitcoin is getting more popular now.  The fact that they have that in their scripts means that they are fully aware on the capability of bitcoin in the next years to come.  And it will also help bitcoin to grow and be used by many people since it is almost a free advertisement for bitcoins.

Thanks for posting this. I wonder if theres movie that features cyrptocurrency and you have this post. I am about to watch this now. Its cool that cryptocurrency is getting notice now and it seems this is the future.
