Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Most definitely! It is possible that it can become the future currency if the government and IRS will acknowledge bitcoin as currency and not a commodity. Even if we don’t want the authorities to intervene, in the end, they’re still the one who has the power to make the decision. Also, I think bitcoin still has a lot to prove. My experience with CGMiner has been really good so far. Always runs smooth, no crashes.
