ASIC - GPU with GTX1080 or RX480

Since these mainstream GPUs are heading towards mobile, wouldnt it be possible to maximize on these core on an ASIC board that runs them?

Miners are already consuming more than 50% of all the boards out there currently and i believe we would take more than that if it works

GPU providers will soon take over conventional miners such as bitmaintech ... which i say good riddance.

tats not how an asic works - they are meant for simple repeat calculations of input->output  (such as only doing an SHA256 encryption)

GPUs are great because they have thousands of cores that can handle whatever is thrown at them, and you can run 5-7 of them on a barebones $200 bench (H97+celeron+4gb ram+ HDD)

just using the term in general. I have seen some mock notebook with dual RX480 chipset and wonder if a similar board can be build but host more than 2.

that notebook has a motherboard.

so yes, a similar board is available with support for 6-7 GPUs. its called the H81-BTC or the H97-anniversary.
