Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Redundant, with the various TheStilt BIOS versions for those cards around.
His BIOS versions don't just set the voltage, they also turn off some of the parts of the cards that aren't needed for mining, AND tighten up the memory timings a LOT making them a ton more efficient AND much more overclockable with LESS heat.

I've only seen Stilt BIOS files for reference cards. If you've found a collection of them for Asus, MSI, and Sapphire non-reference cards, please share.

Had to switch to the backup BIOS to get it to boot. My first guess is that the voltage regulator is different.

You'll have to do some digging, some of the links are outdated that I found when I was looking for them. I don't have the URL where I found them in WORKING form around any more - think it was from the ETH forum. They are intended to work well with ANY miner - were originally built during Litecoin GPU days, I'm used them with qtminer and genoil with no issues and see no reason they wouldn't work well with Claymore. The parts of the card they turn off are only used for video output stuff - don't use one of these BIOS on a card used for gaming, the performance WILL suffer.

Just pull the strap he uses for each memory type and transplant with a hex editor.
For eth mining there's not much benefit to modifying the memory timing on Hawaii. Even with the core overclocked to 1050, best performance is with the memory downclocked from 1250 to 1125.

I came across the stilt bios' in my many searches.. I of course saved them along with all other pcs of software i have come across since i started mining. I am uploading all the stilt bios for 290x and 290 each with several freqvoltages for each card. Hope this will help you . Give me about 20 min and i should have them ready on dropbox.

There could be, if aggressively tuned for latency - but better to do it on 4xx. @Wolf0 Would you have or be interested in creating me a miner that will only solo mine eth to the eth proxy by sammy007. I asked claymore but he was not interested. I was referred to you by Eliovp as someone that might want to do it.> I dont need all the bells and whistles claymore has just the same performance so that i can solo mine without disconnecting every hour. let me know and what kind of price i would need for such software. I appreciate your consideration. Best Regards. d57heinz

If Hawaii is the R9 290x, it's not a great choice for Ethereum anyway - more power draw, for no better results than the R9 290 manages.
