ThePirateBay shutting down for good???

ThePirate bay is not shutting down mate for now I think but it will soon. It is illegal and is being pursued of course by law and later on I think their site will be shut down by the US government just like what happened to kickass.to. If they were to shut down though there will be another site that will provide us good torrent collection. It will also be pursued by law and so on and so forth.

They have been after the pirate bay for over a decade. Only thing that changed since is more torrenting sites and more people torrenting. No one is closing the site down anytime soon. And as you say nothing would change if they managed to anyway.

I think torrents era has passed. Too far advanced technology, you can now keep track of all those involved in the spread of pirated content. Especially thanks Windovs 10. We will pay for everything!

Too soon to give up like that. Use linux, privacy tools, vote for pirate parties in your country, etc.

The "illegality" of Piratebay is questionable. As such, peer-to-peer file-sharing is not illegal. It is the piratebay users, who upload/download copyrighted content. Piratebay is just a medium for doing this. Those who upload/download pirated content must be held accountable, and not those who run some website to help people in peer-to-peer file-sharing.

And in my opinion, downloading or uploading of pirated content is not a crime. The authorities may disagree, for obvious reasons.

It's a crime to upload/download pirated content in many countries, rightfully so. You can take a cab and refuse to pay, it doesn't mean it's not a crime. Someone offers a product or service for money, providing access to it for free is not a just thing to do. The creator on the other end of the line has to pay for food, rent. He/she cannot download food and rent from piratebay.

Creating artificial scarcity doesn't help either. Nor make sense in today's society. There are other ways to make money. And your comparison with the cab driver is flawed. Someone copying a movie doesn't deprive the makers of anything more than already spent unlike a physical goods service.

KickassTorrents was taken down, after the owner was arrested. Artem Vaulin, an Ukrainian citizen was the founder and owner of KickassTorrents. He was arrested in Poland, and reports indicate that he will be extradited to the US. Now I don't think that anyone will be able to put a clone of that site online, as the only person capable of doing that is currently imprisoned.

Who told you to download unverified torrents? First you need to check the user comments and the user reviews. If the file actually contains trojans or spyware, then usually the users will flag it in a matter of hours. I don't know much about PirateBay, but in 1337x, there was an option to download only the verified torrents.

I downloaded a lot on piratebay but I didn't get any malware. I have protection on my pc and make sure to scan everything I downloaded on the internet before using it. I don't know how many times this site has been shutdown already, but it seems another torrent site will re-appear to replace it. It might re-appear on the dark web and fully operational and you can still downloaded videos, audios, e-books, etc.. So I think they are not really shutting it down after all.

There is a very big competition in this matter and as they say, a holy place, there is no empty. A lot of resources with available free content on the network is always there. Some close, copies appear.

Your virus won't be from the Pirate Bay, it'll be from seeders.  This is a risk which everyone has to take if they want to pirate anything.  Most people are perfectly fine.

Piratebay is the same, you can check who uploaded every torrent and chose only verified files. 
There is also comment section where people post warnings if the file is infected or torrent is fake.
If torrent is uploaded by anonymous/unknown uploader and there is zero comments then use you common sense.
The best idea is to open the file in sandobox environment.

Like with anything we must be on our toes when we download things for the internet especially when it is something in such websites that don't check what kind of content is being uploaded to their sites.

So I was browsing through ThePirateBay, and I see this warning page from Firefox:

I could not understand, was this part of the government's war against torrenting, a possible conspiracy by Mozilla to smear TPB?

Turns out, apparently not! I looked it up, and TorrentHound and TPB are exiting, the sites are shutting down, but before they go, they decided to clog the torrent pages up with malware. That's a damn shame!!

Those viruses and malwares are being used by the site so they can create automatic traffic for adult product advertisements. If you notice by just clicking a menu there will be many pop-outs that will display adult product advertisements.

The PirateBay is working great the .org domain. Make sure to use a VPN if you fear for your privacy. In my country anyone who is caught downloading illegal torrents can go to jail. The Pirate Bay was attacked many times and was back after a few days always. I don't think it can be shut down for good.

No matter how the governments all over the world try to restrict them it will come back stronger than ever,only technical issues can cause the down time and the often domain blockage will give some problems to newbies and everyone knows how to bypass all those.The tor site is always working .Long live TPB.

This is an old topic either way since you said that the site uses viruses and malwares then it is a wrong information that you gathered somewhere.The site wont inflict any malwares or viruses but if you download a file from an unverified source expect some viruses other than that it is fine to download as long as you hide your IP.

I am also downloading through torrents for the last 10 years or so. I never had any issues with trojans / spyware, even when I was not using any anti-virus software (now I am using Kaspersky).
