Americas war on terrorism is a failure since even in their country they cannot regulate the use of such substances that can be used to create certain explosives. This just shows that terrorists can just enter their country without carrying explosives but after entering the United States of America they will just purchase these substances mix them and an instant homemade explosive device can now be used to terrorize people.

Well people can create explosive in the United States you can find easily find stuff for explosive substance or ingredients its easily made and school teach them how to do it but you can buy them at the black market and i don't know where that is but really i would like to ban that substance to make explosive because its really hard to face terrorist with bombs on their chest or bag. They can ban that substance for the brighter future of the United States.

Tannerite itself is easily created with commonly available substances. The possibility of effectively regulating this is about zero. If you do it right, you can blow up a house with a bag of flour and some firecrackers. It is even possible to make high explosives from common grocery store items. All this FUD over Tannerite is just more fear mongering designed to push the fearful population into the warm regulatory bosom of the state with no other result than removing freedoms.

Good point. Maybe it was the want-to-be terrorist who was terrified when all those peoples' eyes rotated around to him. Because I have a feeling they were all madder than hornets...

Even if a substance like this was made illegal to purchase, especially in commercial sport stores, I don't think it would stop someone genuinely looking to cause a deadly explosion in an urban area like New York City.
Lets pretend that this particular substance was banned,and it was "impossible" to obtain without a license or whatever. If it is a compound of two non-explosive materials, can't the individual looking to cause harm with this just purchase those two components repeatedly, and mix it themselves? To crack down on such specific substances like this is difficult, as you never really expect people to do these things until they happen, and that that point it is too late

Isn't this typically something that happens? I know that a good deal of stores have combinations of checmicals that when seperated won't cause any damage, but when put together could cause a massive explosision. It's why in movies when people go into a Home Depot and order a good deal of items that could be used for explosives, posionious gases, etc -- home depot employees will alert the local police.

This is only an issue when people go ahead and mix things and abuse it, not without that.
