He explains technical differences but not real world implications. I get the feeling that he only has a shallow understanding of either currency, pretty terrible video imo.

I think the network effect is also irrelevant, because there are already existing markets for each alt currency. People are trading, money is being transferred. You can mine alt coins and buy yourself into bitcoin with them. One could argue that it's also smart to diversify assests across different coin networks.

That being said, I can't help shake the feeling that Litecoin is just a cheap knock-off of Bitcoin and that it lacks good developers. I would look to other more innovative coins such as PPCoin if I wanted to mine alt coins.

We had noticed you say this, just a few times before /s

Nice video OP, there is an ignore button on the forum which works well for posters such as the above who keep droning over and over the same points.

Shinkicker, I will post what I want. If you would rather cry about me rather than have an actual discussion about LTC's deficiencies, maybe you should follow your own advice and ignore me.

But its a repeat discussion. Look at your post history, you keep repeating the same thing over and over even though the  points have been addresed already. You also never make any clearly defined points, instead its blanket statements such as ' it lacks good developers' being a typical example.

If you could come up with discussion points and actually reference code or events that have actually occured, then I might take you seriously, otherwise its a lot of noise.

You're right you can post what you want, but don't tarnish peoples names without a credible source to back up what you say.

Perhaps its more obvious then I assume here and you want to see LTC bomb in the hope it pumps up PPCoin, if thats the case then do what you need to do, but don't make crap up without it being backed by real world examples.

Shinkicker, wrong. I say what I say because I have looked into LTC and it has problems. LTC supporters seem to enjoy side-stepping the conversation every time it comes up though and find something new to talk about, such as picking on me Smiley

You say I make blanket statements with no backing? Ok.

Let me give you some links now:

http://forum.litecoin.net/index.php?topic=1179.0 (All caps panic thread title, seems really healthy for LTC right? Lol)

http://forum.litecoin.net/index.php/topic,1521.0.html "Total silence on Litecoin forum? Interesting." "This is indeed very interesting. No active development -> litecoin will die..."

Litecoin devs barely take the time to answer questions on their own forum. It's hard to imagine that they Coblee\Greedi are anything at this point besides investing as little time and energy into LTC as possible so that they can just profit with minimal effort. Where are the updates? Coblee's last development update was a post in February AFAIK, and nothing has come out of him since then. No developer roadmap, no new code, etc.

Do you need more links? Will you actually read them and stop thinking I am making "blanket statements" and just talking bs? You are trying to convince people to buy into a crap currency that is destined to fail, and try to hurt the credibility of anyone who stands against it. Smells like a ponzi scheme to me. I stand behind other alt currencies, like PPC, because the white paper on Proof of Stake is out there, it seems feasible, and  PPC code is continuously updated and improved. Sunny King interacts a lot with the community and you can tell he is passionate about his project

I'm evaluating each currency by looking at the currency's management team and trying to imagine where the currency will be one year from now. Given the current status of development, I see a much brighter future for something like PPC over LTC, I feel that is hard to logically argue against tbh given all of the evidence.

> 1. greedi vs everyone
we've never seen problems like this for bitcoin, eg luke jr vs. everyone?
> 2. BIP #0050
addressed already by coblee
> 3. transaction -rescan issue
problem with bitcoin client, will be fixed by 0.8.1 update, not really an issue as I have 500+ tx recorded, and they've all gone through fine for me

if you want to talk to the developers, come to #litecoin-dev, they're there 24/7

You know what Sunny King also doesn't do?  Shit all over other cryptocurrencies despite desiring the success of his own.

Hold on there big boy,

Talking about LTC's problems != shitting on all other cryptocurrencies

Greedi != Luke-jr. Just lol at this comparison, it's such a huge strawman argument and skews what we are talking about. I don't mention Greedi as a negative to LTC because he says dickish things (as does Luke-jr), I mention him as a negative because he spies on peoples PMs (proof in the links I attached previously) and pretty much attempted a coup of LTC that ended up failing.

Ty for the reading material though.

I am not going to read a load of drama in some forum threads. I have been involved in a few community projects before and there is always dev drama going on, its strange if there is not its that common. Bitcoin has its fair share of that.

I gave you the link to the code repo, show me the issues. I asked luke-jr the same in reddit. Everyone says litecoin security blah blah blah, unstable code, blah blah blah. Well I say, paste the code in here or by PM and lets see it. Everything is open here.

"Total silence on Litecoin forum? Interesting." "This is indeed very interesting. No active development -> litecoin will die..."

We already went through this a couple of theads ago where you said there had been no development for 9 months and I showed you a commit from 17 days ago.

Coblee has replied to the last issue you source..https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=162412.msg1710783#msg1710783

So its you being a drama queen again and hating on others peoples work again.

Its petty, and all this LTC hate is just going to end up back firing, I am sure.

Why is talking about LTC's deficiencies == I am being a drama queen? Keep your emotions separate from your arguments. Be logical. I'm not the one posting meme bs and making hyperboles like tacotime is

One commit in 8 months is not a sign things are going well just fyi.

This thread is spiraling into bs anyway, you guys write off discussion about LTC as drama and trolling. So be it, I'm done here too then.

Hope I did not appear disrespectful and calling you a drama queen was below the belt, so I apologise there. But when you say you're discussing deficiencies, to me from what you have presented, they are no more then assumptions. I am simply challenging those assumptions with no more emotion then I do most others things in life. I don't believe you're trolling.

But I mean you know Ill will. I and am now going to finish episode 5 of the walking dead and will bow out too.

No shinkicker, I don't mean ill will. You seem like a decent guy though; let's just let this thread die since it's f'ed at this point, and we can pick up the discussion again in a later thread if it ever comes up.
