Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

ETC is also being developed but the point that seperates it from ETH is that it is decentralized and that makes the coin good.
also the large amount of manipulation does not exist in ETC so you can speculate a lot easier about it for the future.

I think it is time for the ETC developers show the world that they are not just about revolution and stop relying of Etnereum brand, the market need something to hold on to, the price has been dropping for some time there is need to change this trend, although the developers don't have any stash of ETC like the Ethereum foundation that has alot of both ETH and ETC |

in case of ethereum i don't think this is true or ever come true, because simply put ETC doesn't have the support of manipulators with deep pockets, they are all deeply involved with ETH and since these two coins are basically the same you can see the future of ETH inside the future of ETC but with a faster speed. |

it's a hard fork for the good of the entire system. it's not contentious in any way as far as I can tell. bitcoin has hard forked before and that was universally agreed on and forgotten about for the same reasons. |
