I have an online buy ad in localbtc. Price is above market to encourage people to click. I don't mind "losing" a bit there, the point is buying, not taking profit from trades.

If often happens to me that I wake up in the morning and find a trade in localbitcoins that has been autocanceled because I didn't pay in 150 minutes. Oh sorry I was sleeping! Other times I'm busy at work (well that's what I'm paid for after all right?) and trades autocancel as well. I have meetings longer than 150 minutes. Today after having lunch, some table talk and a movie, I come back to my room and find yet another autocanceled trade. Cmon, can I have a life of my own thanks?

I know I can set "Opening hours" for my ad so it doesn't run during the night, and that's a nice to have feature, but I often stay awake until past midnight on fridays and saturdays, like normal people (?), and localbitcoins doesn't (seem to) support that AFAIK. And I'd have the ad running on a Sunday afternoon anyway but I'd still miss today's one. "Opening hours" is not a solution.

Am I missing something? How do you localbitcoiners manage to successfully run online buy ads?

I've never posted an ad on the site, but if you have trouble responding to a trade within the 2h30 limit, I don't think you should be trading there.
The mission of the site is to offer quick trades.
Do you have a phone or something where you could get notifications? Another solution would just to be missing out on some trades like you're doing currently.

I am a regular trader there. Why don't you just disable ads for the times you are usually sleeping or are not there ?

This is new to me. https://localbitcoins.com/faq does not contain the words "fast" or "speed". There are a couple of "quick"s, in the context of bitcoin transactions, not trades. Can you back your assertion?

That's not a reliable long term solution. Are users really expected to spend the day enabling and disabling ads? What if I'm expected to be away 30 minutes and something unforeseen happens?

So you want a solution like your ad must run till you are active in localbitcoin, and the site has to determine whether you would be active or not within few hours of your non activity, wow you are really awesome mate

you can set different operating time for everyday of the week

so change the timing for Friday and Saturday

For the 30 minute case is , why you have the 150 minute autocancel window. For sleeping, its best to disable the ad, as you would be doing it just once a day. The site also shows Green dots varying the color depending on how recently the trader was online, so buyers should look into that and make decisions. It can't know when you go out to each lunch, but can only know when was the last time you were around.

Well,I think the trades are secure that way.The main reason why people don't get easily scammed on LBC and they have the best automated escrow.A trade is comprised of trading window ,in which ,your trade conditions should be met since the one with bitcoins would have its coins already in the LBC escrow. The other party is suppose to do the payments while they still have the time if not,the trade is auto closed.Best system ever.

Well if you are not sure when a buyer will knock at localbitcoins doors then you can simply add your phone number and you will get a call when buyer wants to buy something .

While I don't intend on changing your mind, but how would you as a trader or seller sell at a margin on bitsquare ?  I thought your whole intent was to set up ads and sell as a trader.

...

I have used localbitcoins about five times successfully (buying BTC in person with cash).  But, I have tried many more times!  Perhaps it is my city.

I arrange to meet at a Starbucks or similar.  CA$H for BTC, wait on the confirmation.  Only once did it not work out, we had a misunderstanding over pricing (he wanted a higher premium to market price than I had been led to believe).

Please atleast try and refrain to the topic. Your post doesn't contribute or rather doesn't even make sense along the lines of the thread.

My intent is in the very first paragraph in the very first post of the thread.

@OROBTC, I have also successfully used localbtc with cash in person.

I don't buy bitcoins on local bitcoins, I only sell.
One time, the buyer was not around during the available time slot, so he sent me a message via the site that I should reopen the order... I guess by communicating with the person who has shown interest in the trade, you can both agree at a fixed trading time.

I buy and sell Bitcoins on Localbitcoins but I haven't any problems with the time frame. I have trusted seller/buyer there from my local area who is very responsive so if the green button is on, he's online for sure and everything is done within 60 minutes the most. If there is some problem he has Viber contact so we can settle everything. The key thing is that you have trusted person on localbitcoins then everything could be arranged with no problems.

You can activate free SMS notification to come on your phone and every time a trade is opened you get notified. There is no other way, people who sell and buy there are living from that and they are just available at any time if they don't wan't to lose customers. You just need to find time.

You quote my post yet it appears you didn't read it. Did you miss the part about sleeping or being busy at work?

I created adds as well, and also put the open time on there, however my ads shows up at the wrong time. I suspect their timezone adjustment simply doesn't work. Maybe they should fix this?
