I think it already is. Bitcoin is now famous, more investors are coming in. The price is very high, it even surpassed the market value of gold so I think it is considered as a currency of the new era.

We cannot expect that all people will accept bitcoin due to it's inherent risk, the price is very volatile and there are whales who can easily manipulate the price so those people who are using bitcoin and has no other intention but to transact only will loss confidence when they see the value will drop.
