I know what my opinion is -- but I was curious how other people felt about tipping.
For myself, I'd do it if there wasn't a transaction fee. I don't have enough bitcoins to give large tips, sadly.

I don't know about all versions of the client, but if you're being forced to pay a transaction fee, you may want to upgrade (or downgrade) to one which lets you send for free.
I'm using 0.3.20, which I can send free transactions through.
If you can send free transactions, I'm sure many people will gratefully accept tips of 1 or 2 bitcents; They don't have to be big tips.

I also don't really like "begging" in signatures, however I got a request by someone that he/she specifically wanted to donate me some bitcents - so I put a new address in my sig (but as you can easily check - no tips yet). I don't expect anything to go in there though and I also do not tip myself. If it makes people happy though, I'm the last person to say "no" to free money!
I like it much more anyways if people sign up with my Tradehill referral (even though the situation seems a bit weird there - asks of 22 and bids of 20 and a tiny trade every hour... even though fees are lower than on MtGox?!) and I hope that in the future I get a few "tips" this way - while even also helping people that sign up using this, as they also pay less fees.

I also do not tip myself.
That would be quite funny.

That would be quite funny. It might encourage people if they see "others" have also already tipped... What I wanted to say was, that I do not tip others. Damn english language, time to switch to latin or esperanto worldwide!

i am tip, but honestly, - i am tipping just on some efforts that`s seem big to me.
I am tipped to GUI miner (Kiv) - because i am believe that comfortable mining GUI environment is important for starter miners and windows mining. I am tipped to momchill, - well that miner will become a legend.
I am tipped for some bitcoins media (not bitcoin Sun , - personally, i am did not like it).
I am will tip or join bounty for open source BTC trade platform`s. I am interested in flexible proxy project, and waiting when it will become usable ( in other words - well documented) for not so tech savy`s. i am interested both, in push poll and web end, - for push poll project. I am interested in normal and clear GUI client for NameCoins. I am interested in further development of NMC\BTC exchange.
I am also worried, and possible, will tip or donate, on bitcoin forum overload solution.

I would definitely tip for BitCoin Wallet android app as it would really have the potential to bring BitCoin to a wider attention. I added a tipping address to my sig out of curiosity. Wondered why here everybody does it and didn't want to stand out too much

It's totally ridiculous and makes this forum look like a begging yard.
It is perfectly ok if someone runs a donation based service, ie a blog or analysis or whatever (on their own site), but asking here is just low.

+1 I can't for the life of me understand how people imagine they look when they do this. It's like having a conversation with friends, then begging small change off them afterwards. Pathetic.

It's not accepting tips, it's begging. And it's probably never done anything for 90% of the people with an address in their sig. Well except clutter up the forum. Pretty daft all around.

I have no problem with it. I'd donate if I weren't bit-poor.
