What is house edge exactly?

Advantage over the play that casino has.
You can read more with detailed explanation at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casino_game

In simple words, gambling house will take a small cut from each bet that is mentioned it like 1% or 0.5% of the bet amount. Every time you bet gambling house will get that much profit for them to maintain a site and for other expenses. So logically 0% house edge difficult to maintain in the longer run.

Absolutely Wrong

@MinerHQ You are confusing House Edge with fees/commission. When we say PrimeDice has 1% house edge or SafeDice has 0.5% house edge, it does NOT mean that they deduct 1% or 0.5% on bet amount. It means that the house has 1% or 0.5% more chance to win over the gambler. For 0% house edge, both have 50-50 chance to win in the long run. But, as has been discussed many times before in this thread, gamblers lose out their winning because of greed. Even 1% house edge site may go bankrupt if all gamblers stop playing as soon as they win over the house. But, this does not happen in reality. Hence, 0% house edge is very much practical and the gambling community gotta live with this reality.

But not all people are going to win in the long run though no matter you have 0% HE or 1% though. Even 0% you will lose it because of their system though. 1% is not that much AFAIK, may be they have better chance though but lets try 100 rolls and see the result if your loss is between that 1% HE or not

True!  Basically all of these games are based only on our luck eventhough those site doesn't have house edge but still we cannot win if goodwill are not in favor in our hands and yet gambling site who's handling that 0 housedge rule can still earn some profits to their gamblers and still eventhough they dont have house we cannot still asure that we can win more money and retain our winning stats on certain game.
I think 1% house edge is the only advantage of the gambling casino's  even its a small house edge many gamblers can't still make or win a large amount in gambling and yeah all are depends in our luck but sometimes there are some people even they are lucky they are still experience to lose in the end because of greediness this is the nature of human we have all greediness if we are talking about in money..
Instead they are already made a profit they are still not satisfied that can trigger your self to be greed so you will still lose in the end. house edge is not a problem if you can control your self not treating gambling is your source of profit just think that you are just gamble for fun.

I really don't understand why nobody understands the pure definition of house edge.

Basically with 1% house edge, say you are betting 50/50 to dice over 50. You would only win the result is 51-100, if its 0-50, you would lose, so there is a 1% higher chance against you.

If you bet dice under 50, then you only win if 0-49, if its 50-100 you wil lose.  Again because of the 1% house edge.

Its a small house edge but the more bets you take the more its against you.

House edge is how gambling sites and casinos earn which pays for their operations and other necessary expenses. Having 0% house edge will mean that the house (or the casino or investors) are gambling against their patrons which might result in them losing. Unlike if they have that 1% house edge, statistics will dictate that the house will win no matter what in an infinite number of plays.

So if you did find a gambling site without house edge, then you should be suspicious about them.

well not exactly.
casinos are earning money from people who lose on their site not from house edge and gamblers are knows to lose a lot and when it comes to chance based games they tend to lose a lot more.

house edge only gives "edge" to the house to guarantee the house's win and even if they have 0% house edge they are still going to make profit and there have been new dice sites that did this in their early days and still made profit.

Yes, they do earn from people losing. However, people will not lose as much in gambling if there is no house edge. If it is 0% house edge, then the win chances of casinos are the same for their gamblers. Hence, if they don't have that edge, statistically they will win 50% only. Unlike if they have a house edge, they will win 50% + house edge.

Yes but technically you are correct. However Humans are stupid when it comes to gambling and emotion. They might actually have a 0% house edge but since everybody keep martingaling, they will eventually get into a losing streak and lose their entire accounts, they don't need a 1% house edge to do that.

I think they are just the same result 1% or 0% but yeah many people are still losing streak it is a nature of people to be greed that can affect your gamble habit. you will lose because you are not satisfied what you had and the other thing you win now tomorrow you will lose again that you want to chase it back again.. houseedge is nothing to do i gambling.. you can try it with your self and experience that they are just the same.. bot or automation for me is not a good habit it can drain your wallet fast better to enjoy when you are playing it can gives you more luck if you do that than any methods or theory you can hear by others..

very likely that the house manipulating edge them to attract players to come in, see a lot of players looking for edge low to be a gamble for them, then do not be surprised if a lot of gambling sites vying race to have the edge is very low, but if one of them said that they have the edge 0%, I can assure that they are crap and maybe will scam you

How about they promotion that they offer for you? Does it means they will be some crap? Amd how about other site that give you 0.xx? Does it onclude to your 0% house edge? If it is included so that site will be crap too? AFAIK there is still depends on their site too. Some site offer 1% house edge will scam you too though

You're close, but not quite right either. The house edge is casinos expected profit relative to the size of the wager. i.e. A house edge of 1% simply means the casino would expect to make 1 BTC for every 100 BTC wagered. Obviously there is variance and what not, so the house's actual profits tend to be surprisingly far away from their expected profits.
Looks like what u have said has no fundamental difference with what I said. Not sure why did u say You're close, but not quite right either?

I dont agree with you that gambling sites that does not have an house edge are a scam.
Some gambling sites offers a game with no house edge to attract some gamblers, and they make their money from other games that are available on the website.

Also betting predictions sites are also available, where you bet against other people with no house edge.

That is not true. Girlbtc does charge a fee if you are a late entrance to the game(I think it is the 50th-100th block that you are charging a fee). You should definitely be more open about your fee schedule instead of trying to lie about it.

EDIT: Nevermind, girlbtc instant game may just charge 0 fees. My bad.

girlbtc has three games

Main Gamble (PvP Players V.S. Plyaers)
Instant Gamble(promotion only) (PvH 0 house edge 0 fee)
BlockWar (PvP  1% fee , faster)

What you are talking about is the Main Gamble,  Instant Gamble(promotion only)   is absolutely 0% house edge.

Good luck any how ,it is the best site AFAIK, fair and for the most important: data public

House edge is the only avenue where the gambling industries are using to make their own money, though this charges varies from websites to websites  and the percentage also differs however 0% house edge gambling site should not be trusted because they will eventually scam you.
House edge is merely a probabilistic figure. It is NOT site commission. 0% house edge means both u & house has equal winning probability in the long run. But, as bankroll of the house is in general bigger than an individual player, they manage to keep the bank rolling in the long run and hence make profit.

Looks like what u have said has no fundamental difference with what I said. Not sure why did u say You're close, but not quite right either?

Because you said that a X% house edge means the house has X% more chance of winning than the player. However, that's not quite true in the generic case.

Let's say I want to 10x my money on PrimeDice. I have a 9.9% chance of winning, and the house has a 90.1%. That corresponds to a 1% house edge, even though the house has a +80.2% more win chance.

So it's better to think of house edge as "how much expected profit will the casino make" divided by the size of the player bet.

Check out gamblingsitefinder.com for a decent list/rankings of crypto casinos. Note: I have no affiliation or interest in it, and don't even agree with all the rankings ... but it's the only uncorrupted review site I'm aware of.

But, as bankroll of the house is in general bigger than an individual player, they manage to keep the bank rolling in the long run and hence make profit.

Let's say a player has 1 BTC, and the casino has 1000 BTC. With a 0 house edge, the casino has a 99.9% chance of bankrupting the player. And the player has a 0.1% chance of bankrupting the casino. (Number slightly rounded).  In other words, the casino is risking absolutely everything for no expected profit and negative expected bankroll growth (given enough time, someone will get lucky and bust the house).

I don't expect that a rational casino, that understand the risks will ever do this. 0% house edge gaming has potential, but I think strictly within a pvp setting.

The house edge in that case is based on a Roll over value of 90.09% not 90.1%.
But in general whenever there is a house edge and you have a low win %, the house edge is more against you since you do more rolls which are against you.

I'm having trouble understanding what you're saying,  but the house edge has nothing to do with the win chance. And I'm not sure where you got the 90.09% from, or why you'd try correct me without first checking.

The expect value for the house is the sum of all probabilities * their profit. Thus:

1*0.901 - 9*0.099 = 0.01

i.e. the expected value is 0.01 on a 1 BTC bet. AKA 1% house edge..

So for a 10x payout with a house edge of 1% the chance of the casino winning is 90.1%
