Trying to start up a new type of raffles.

Standard raffle rules apply. Pick a slot and pay, once all slots are filled we select a block that will draw the winner. Winner receives all gathered btc from the raffle*. Simple? YES!

We will start out low to see if this could gather any interest. And if we gain a lot of traction you can see added prizes in the future for these raffles.

Price / ticket: 0.0065BTC
Slot limit: 3 / user.
1st prize: 0.1BTC

Only pay for tickets to this addy; 1FuGoJ9VcmvZs9VqNegEHVTF5fw5Tq4pTU

We will go after the current block once all slots are filled +10 to decide the winner.

Thread will be updated.

Current slots:

1 -
2 -
3 -
4 -
5 -
6 -
7 - Kolder Reserved
8 -
9 -
0 -
a -
b -
c -
d -
e -
f -

Got any questions at all? Feel free to PM so we do not clog up this thread too much.

*Will take a ~5% fee for holding the raffles.

Goodluck!

I doubt you will get a lot of interest, as it's basically betting with a 5% house edge (or 4% in this case, because of the prize vs amount). It's easier for people to deposit 0.0065BTC to some dice site, and go for a 16x multiplier or use BitcoinBetting.website for a no house edge vs the house game of trying to get the block hash right. Probably needs to be +EV for the player for people to be interested.

Is not all gambling/lotteries etc basically the same thing? I doubt you can find alot of these things were there is no house edge or rake. And considering this is a 1/16 chance to win 16x your bet amount. It's not too bad. I'm not sure about what % you have to win 16x in a dice game, but I doubt this has worse odds.  Anyways, just posted this to see if it would gain any interest, as a test.

What do you mean by +EV?

Sorry, will include this in the topic.

You select a character between 0-f as those are the possible endings to a mined block's hash. Once it is filled up we select a block that will be mined in the future (Around 1-2hours after it's filled) and we check that blocks hash to see who "guessed" it right and wins it. Smiley

On Bitsler.com (1% edge), the chance of winning a 15.38x payout (0.09997BTC payout) is a 6.4369% chance. In your game, the chance of getting the right block hash is a 1/16 chance, or a 6.25% chance. Bitcoinbetting.website also bets on block hashes and will pay out 16x for a 1/16 chance, or 0.104BTC in this case. By +EV I mean the player having a positive expected value. Maybe something like a 16.2x payout for a 1/16 chance. Obviously, this would need you to add some money to the game and not make profit.

There would be no point in me doing that, giving away free money just for the fun of it?

Also, this is done for the forum, for the fun of it, not running a website. So I see nothing wrong with the edge.

There isn't anything wrong with the edge. I'm just saying that you will have a very hard time finding players to play, because it might take a while for slots to fill up, they could gamble vs the house on the exact same thing (block hash) with a higher payout, or play dice for a higher payout. Good luck with your raffle.

We use the blockchain for this raffle. So a block that will be mined in the future will decide who the winner is.

0.0065 for the 16 spots getting around 0.104 BTC, I think it looks fair and at least 4mBTC given to the organizers, a very good idea
