I could care less about the tech. The second line of that post is what was important

A good dev team backed up by some marketers enabling bitcoin to seriously compete for currency of choice in those countries / demographics currently served by M-Pesa could only be good.

People talk about bitcoin taking market share from paypal, or western union, etc...

I think the big win will be going low tech and enabling developing countries.
