Internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom recently launched a fundraising campaign for MegaUpload 2.0 (MU2) and BitCache. The pitch includes many new details about the two upcoming products. The campaign is being run on BNK2TheFuture, Bitcoin angel investor Simon Dickson's tech startup fundraising website.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

I am quite impressed with the whole idea and how it might work out, but I always keep a defensive look at things till they have launched and at least reported a bit of success. That's when we will really see whether or not there is demand for such a service.

I was pretty close back in August, heh:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1580256.msg15938833#msg15938833

If anything, I'd assume his proposal does something similar to Factom or possibly Maidsafe.  Rather than storing files directly on the blockchain, it could just store a reference or hash pertaining to the files in a much smaller amount of space and the files themselves could then be broken down into tiny pieces and distributed over a peer-to-peer network accordingly.

I doubt he's going to break any significant new ground, but he might well find a profitable way of tying several existing ideas together.

Paradoxical move coming from a bizzarre, eccentric and strange multi-millionaire, right?
I've never liked the guy and his last move does not really help me in finding some goods in him.

Yes, super close.  Cool

Love him or hate him, at least he puts his money where his mouth is -- unlike lots of vaporware jackholes that have endless "crowdfunding" sales, pocket the funds and start yet-another-shitcoin-idea.

I'll take a P2P network fueled by Bitcoin payments any day over the retard-vaporware I see all the time on this forum.
