Hi:
I am having a dual HD6990 set up in windows 7. I am using msi afterburner to downclock the memory clock for my cards however the memory won't go below about 780mhz. say, If I set it to 625mhz it goes all the way back to 1250mhz... Also, the min value on the adjust bar is 620mhz so how can I even down clock the memory clock to around 300mhz???
So, Let me know what I did wrong... Thanks in advance.

exit from after burner navigate to the MSI afterburner install folder and open the MSIAfterburner.CFG file in note pad find the line at the bottom delete it and then paste in [ATIADLHAL] UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it UnofficialOverclockingMode = 2 close and save open up afterburner and it should be good to go ! if this works feel free to donate

I know on my machine I can only half the Mem speed on Afterburner, so I have to down clock it from 1200 to 600, restart Afterburner then I can go from 600 to 300.

right click on cfg file, security, users, allow users to write file

i see the same thing...I have to down clock it from 1200 to 600, restart Afterburner then I can go from 600 to 300, but there are any risk to down clock so hard?

I am only downclocking to 625 Mhz, because any lower setting makes my Dual-6990 system unstable. Even with the unofficial config settings.

I downclock all the way to 150 on my 6950's, but all they do is mine. On my main machine I downclock to 300 on my 5870's and haven't seen any problems as long as I don't watch videos or play 3D games. It's pretty stable for normal use.

You can't downclock memory on 6990s by more than a 100 less than what the clock speed is at. (well it could be 110 less, but it's tricky to get that)
Example of what will work: 880/780, 900/800, 950/850 etc... etc...
Do not assume the above values is what you should be trying. Do your own experimenting while watching temps and fan speeds.
