DooMad, you're misrepresenting what Timm (and others) do say so much, why should anyone want to debate with you at all?

We've never heard an honest or pertinent argument from your camp, you've never made one. Not once. There's nothing to debate when one side isn't interested in getting to the truth of the matter.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

We've never heard an honest or pertinent argument from your camp, you've never made one. Not once. There's nothing to debate when one side isn't interested in getting to the truth of the matter.

What, exactly, did I misrepresent here?  An attendee described the event as "interesting" and that alone was sufficient for Timm to accuse them of shilling just because they got free beer.  Sure, he's welcome to make that accusation, but it feels a tad premature to judge and certainly seems to lack any real evidence.

My honest argument is the one I expressed in my prior response to you.  Bitcoin should not become an elitist plaything for the privileged few.  If scaling is not handled correctly, I fear that could well be the end result.  If that wasn't what I honestly believed, I wouldn't be writing it.

I'm happy for optimisations to be made to the code, I'm happy for us to experiment with payment channels, but I won't abide a completely one-sided narrative about the supposed evils of altering the blocksize when it was an arbitrary number plucked from thin air without any prior testing.  Neither you, nor anyone else can say with any certainty what would have happened by now if a larger number had been chosen in the heat of the moment, so don't pretend otherwise.  You claim to have "pertinent arguments", but all you really have are doomsday scenarios and scaremongering.  You paint any differing opinion to your own as some sort of hostile takeover.  You'll probably accuse me of that being a misrepresentation as well, but it's pretty much all I've heard over the last couple of years now.

I was there yesterday, very intresting as expected, like the people in the room Smiley

(for roger and the team if you are reading this thank you for the beers Cheesy)

And here we have the solution to the scaling strife. He who hands out most beer wins. I'll bet Blockstream never thought of that.

Blockstream is not that desperate to gather support... It sounds like cheap politics. I have seen this strategy being done very

successfully in 3rd world countries during elections. They also hand out free food parcels and t-shirts to buy votes. Roger Ver is doing

the weirdest things lately.  Roll Eyes ... Is everyone going Bitcoin crazy? Cmon guys and gals.. let's play together nicely.  Sad

It sounds like cheap politics.

Of course it is. And a depressingly large amount of times out of ten it works a treat too. But in this particular case I think people were more interested in the beer rather than sending Bitcoin batty.

No, you're entirely wrong about all of that. We do know what real effects the health of the Bitcoin network from the slow trickle of full-nodes being switched off, even at 1MB. So there's nothing arbitrary about the number, it's not sustainable by some Bitcoin users now. Making consistent arguments to fuel that downward spiral is just always going to look like either ignorance or trolling. And to say that the "Bitcoin Democracy" camp haven't been called out dozens of times using all sorts of duplicitous arguments is a real joke.

Your argument has one major problem (as do those of your free-screeching friends): the people who care about their BTC actually want to know, strangely enough, and so the best idea truly will win. I look forward to seeing the outcome.

< Your earlier post >

As long as you do everything you can to shut down any dissenting viewpoints.  And you wonder why the people you don't agree with feel the need to hold a 'Free Speech Party'.

< Then you followed up with this bullshit >

I never said you couldn't say what you said.  I merely asked that if the roles were reversed, would you be okay with someone accusing you of shilling by mere virtue of attending an event with free refreshments?  In your haste to launch into a tirade, you appear to have neglected to provide an answer.  I then pointed out that opposing views are simply discarded rather than debated.  Other than not being fond of Roger Ver as an individual (something you've been abundantly clear on), what is it you despise so much about this conference and the people who chose to attend?

Listen, you logic-deficient meatbag -- you abundantly IMPLIED I was "controlling what was said" by your little crybaby "everything you can to shut down" statement. Its amazing that I have to SPELL EVERYTHING OUT TO YOU like you're some aging OCR reader in a public library.

The entire "Free Speech" conference is a misnomer, a whining little spit-against-the-wind "protest" by someone who has no clue as to what the future will be. By covering it in the whinge-fest of "Free Speech", Ver is implying that he doesn't have the freedom to say what he wants --- BUT HE FUCKING DOES. So, when a user comes along and gives the all-smiles thumbs-up with a shitty shillpost, you better believe that I'm going to take them to task about it.

Ver can spread his ideas anywhere he wants, but by acting like he's a VICTIM, he only proves that his ideas weren't useful to begin with. If you have to play the card of being "oppressed", you've already lost your own PR battle. Its fucking maneuvers like these and his constant in-your-face-do-it-like-I-say-or-we're-doomed bullshit that gets under people's skin.

And yet, there are useful idiots that will defend him to the very end, perhaps because they identify with being VICTIMS instead of actually contributing towards some kind of progress.

Give me a fucking break with your "woe is me" crap -- this isn't a middle-school playground where you skinned your knee and everyone rushes to kiss your boo-boo.
