I might have got the first Bitcoin Related Project on Kickstarter....   going back and fourth with them now...  they have the submission just had some questions...   It's not live yet because there are quite a few questions they had,  but the moment it does I will give you guys the URL.    In a nutshell,  if I get this funded then most likely it will pave the way for many bitcoin projects....  wish me luck.

Forgot to ask... is a part of your discussion with them whether they'll accept BTC funding for the project?

you dont. armory was on kickstarter.

Yes I do.

https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Akickstarter.com+bitcoin

The only references anywhere to bitcoin on kickstarter are via comments on Parallalla ,  and a few loneshot comments on a handful or projects.  There are n projects that have Bitcoin in the title,  at least from what I was told by the company or can see via a Google Search

As per Kickstarter themselves

"we never had a bitcoin only project, so yours is unique"

Now it's possible Google didn't index it and the Guy at Kickstarter was wrong,  or perhaps the project wasn't successful, but based on what Kickstarter told me it's the first.

Regarding them accepting bitcoins, they said "not yet" Sad

But the fact that they might assist funding a bitcoin project, abit in dollars, is awesome.

I won't fuck up Smiley  .. at least I hope not.

The concept is simple,  because there is already a working product.

I already have the webapp for ounce.me
I already have the android app for ounce.me

I need an iOS app for ounce.me

That's it ,  already at 20,000 views per day...  so there is already a working product,  just needed it ported to iOS.

I limited the scope of the project so they approve it...  I just need to prove to them that a bitcoin related project will work for them..  they are viewing it as a litmus test for bitcoin.. literally.

If it doesn't work there we always have a home for you in the Bitcoin community ;-) .  Either way, let us all know how it works out that would be AMAZING if you got on Kickstarter.

I'm trying...  I wanted to use bitcoinstarter.com but I need Kickstarter to accept bitcoins as a valid outlet for venture capital.    The idea is to open up a whole new door for people in the community to back bitcoin projects using established players...

If it doesn't work out,  I'll go directly to bitcoinstarter,  I promise.

you dont. armory was on kickstarter.

Armory was funded using another site called rockethub.  To date kickstarter has been rather anti-Bitcoin.  IIRC a couple projects were blanked rejected simply by having the word Bitcoin in the project.  We aren't talking any long detailed analysis more like a 5 minute (oops Bitcoin - Rejected).  For whatever reason (ignorance, snap judgements, personal bias of founders, fear of legal uncertainy, etc) until now kickstarter has been pretty much bitcoin hostile. If the OP can break open kickstarter anti-Bitcoin policy (defacto or otherwise) that is huge.

To OP please keep the project as realistic as possible and if you need help from the community ask for it.  A good project launch could open a lot of doors, maybe even a partnership between kickstarter and a payment processor like bitpay to allow Bitcoin funding.  I mean honestly it seems silly that hasn't ALREADY happened "crowdfunding" = decentralized capital.  Bitcoin = decentralized currency.  Pretty much a no-brainer.

It is!  I did that on purpose!

Right now :  http://www.ounce.me
Right now : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.btc.ounce.me
Kickstarter Funding : Get Ounce.Me ported to iOS.

Extremely Realistic and viable...  on purpose that way.

What would help now until Kickstarter approves it would be if Android users downloaded the Android App and gave it 5 stars,  so when kickstarter sees it they will see positive reviews.

That would be great. I have help fund quite a number of Kickstarter projects over the past couple of years and would love to see them start accepting Bitcoin. I will let them know too.
