So i wanted to login to my blockchain.info wallet today, and i wrote on the URL Bar: blockchain and hit ENTER. I was on a hurry, so i saw the Top result of google search (Which was Ad) and i clicked it, as it seemed quite genuine(and i was on a hurry). So once it opened, i realized that the domain name was different and that something was wrong about the whole page.

How it looked: https://i.imgur.com/jgrlkBM.png

The URL turned out to be bleckichain.info and the Header what exactly the same as the Blockchain.info. Its obviously a scam site, which immediately takes you to Login Screen, No SSL, Nothing operational and the design is a blockchain.info clone.

Just wanted to let you know guys, be cautious when you click something, even when you are on a hurry Smiley.

EDIT: I got a new Ad now, even "better camouflaged"  blockhaain.info.

But that is a common way that scammers trick people into thinking what they are clicking on is the true site. From them misreading it because they are looking at it fast or they just rely on the viewers being ignorant and clicking on a false link to get scammed.

That scam/trick is probably as old as blockchain.info itself.
We get a thread about some site like that trying to phish users via Google AdWords every other week (or at least I feel like we do).

Google is a joke, don't know how they can let a ad like this shows up.
Probably because they don't care.

that's because google know nothing of bitcoin since they disallow it. this is a phishing site.
obviously if you login, your login details will be sent to them and they can login eventually.  if you login and didnt set up you 2fa, then they can login to your accont.

Google is a joke, don't know how they can let a ad like this shows up.
Probably because they don't care.
And as long they pay for that advertisement to google they will place it on the search engine result page as an ad
if you login and didnt set up you 2fa, then they can login to your accont.
but I don't think if it will works because every time you login in blockchain.info they always send to your email address to confirm that you are the real owner of the account.  Cry

Yes it might not really affect those that have an old account with small balance but there login details and other things are already stored but it could affect those that just want to create a new blockchain account because any funds send to the address they generated is consider a loss.

I have couple simple tips which will pretty much negate threat of phishing with these fake blockchain's addresses:

1. Enable AdBlocker which has the ability to block AdLinks from Google.
2. Turn on 2FA in your security settings.
3. Add blockchain.info to your browser's bookmarks and always use that bookmark to access your wallet.

I've seen quite a few of these over the past year or so. It's not just blockchain or cryptocurrency that this happens with either. I'd say bookmark it to make sure you're going to the right website or better yet stop using an online wallet and use something secure.

Seems there is a focus on Blockchain wallet, their domain name has been hijacked today, but they managed to solve this problem and restore their services, and now the site is running normally, I think these attempts won't stop because this wallet has the highest number of users, and it is hard to count how many Bitcoins they are storing.

Which is exactly what the problem is, if you trust someone else with your bitcoins eventually when they're lost/stolen it's only yourself you can blame. I'm just waiting for the news articles to come out saying blockchain.info was hacked and everyone's funds are gone.
