Hi, just one more newbie emerging from the water! Wink

The question on the subject is a honest one.
Usually they are early adopters of all kids of technology (even 3d for g*d's sake).
I believe bitcoin, for them, would increase revenues (due to "anonymity") and decrease costs (with payments).
Also it would greatly increase the bitcoin economy! Wink

Anyway, just my 0.2(BTC)

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I'll take a stab at this: Porn is free. The people who pay for it aren't the types to be using Bitcoin, imo.

Porn is free?

Not exactly:
Pornography is big business--with $10 billion to $14 billion in annual sales.

True, but there are even bigger idiots in the US Congress who listen with all ears to the porn industry and would lay off bitcoin regulation if they thought it was interfering with another possible revenue stream.  We all know BTC purchase can be made simpler with the right heavy-hitter driving it, yes?

Porn is stronger than the masses think.  Case in point is VHS versus BetaMax as well as Blu-Ray versus HD DVD.  Who had the final say?

It is slowly starting. Most AWM are surprisingly conservative but lately some more sites started to accept BTC. Not sure if it is OK to post links to porn here, but I think it is OK to name some like Blue Blood or MetArt.

I think its a great paradox.

Paid porn sites prey on tech naivety and impulse buy. Both are tough to find in a bitcoin supporter.

I think it's because of bitcoin's rapidly fluctuating price.
Once it becomes more steady,we'll see more and more people jump in to accept bitcoins.

There are cam sites that take BTC as well.
It really has no allure to major porn industry, because no one really tries to hide their porn purchases that much.
They will quickly jump on it once it is more stable and easier to change in and out of fiat, because at that point it will be easy enough for the person who only casually wishes to hide his porn purchases.
Untill then, those who want to hide it a lot will just steal their parents porn, or vice-versa  Grin

Once it becomes more steady,we'll see more and more people jump in to accept bitcoins.

It's a combination of the rapidly fluctuating price of bitcoins and the fact that it takes too long to cash out to a currency that can be used to pay salaries, pay rent, etc. If the exchanges were reliably performing in the sub 1 sec range (which is still unacceptably slow for a modern exchange, but it's still the Wild West in bitcoin), then wild fluctuations would matter less. If the price of bitcoin was stable, then having a slow exchange would matter less.

Having highly unstable prices and sometimes outrageously slow exchanges means that by accepting a bitcoin, a merchant (of any sort, porn or otherwise) is taking on a currency risk that she may not want to. She can't just immediately cash out of bitcoin and into a useful currency at an exchange rate that is nearly guaranteed to be at or very close to the exchange rate that she used to calculate the bitcoin price. It's additional, substantial risk for a merchant.

Oddly enough I actually met a guy in the porn industry a few nights ago, and I told him the same thing.

1) put full length movies on a tube site
2) after a minute or two, stop the movie and offer them the full thing for $0.50 or something
3) unlock the movie on zero confirmations
4) profit!

People only use tube sites nowadays, paying $30/month for pay sites is basically over, but I can see people giving micropayments for the rest of a video that they're interested in.

Zero confirmations is fairly instant, isn't it? I doubt that double spends would be very frequent.
