Hello everyone, although I am new to Bitcoins I am very interested in the whole concept. If I am honest though, I think the current standard Bitcoin design looks a bit tacky and reminds me of old arcade machines lol. I am interested in creating some redesigns, either in a similar style or in a totally different style depending on what people might like. My question to the community is are Bitcoin designs still subject to change? Even if the current design is hear to stay I might create a vector pack with lots of variations anyway. I can also render photo-realistic coin models in 3D etc too so I could potentially create lots of graphics for the cause. I see lots of potential and I want to apply my design skills to make some of my own coins an of course further the the public image of Bitcoins.

Here is a quick mockup design idea, using a drastically different font. The idea is to add some classical decor around the edges etc, what I envisioin I feel would look classy and rival physical currency. So does the Bitcoin community want/need alternive designs?

On a side note I am also about to start up my own apparel line, would it be possible to realistically sell utilizing Bitcoins? I am thinking along the lines of third party payments systems, I am aware Paypal do not support Bitcoin and I assume Google Checkout does not either.

There is no such design on an actual bitcoin, they are not like a pound or a dollar in a physical sense. That is just a logo; it can be anything you, or anyone else for that matter, wants it to be.

Hm. Nice work, but the design doesn't do a thing for me at all. looks really...effeminate. "For the lift and support your cryptocurrency truly needs, Bitcoin coin-brassieres by Playtex."

You're missing the two lines that denote a currency Tongue

I realize there are no actual Bitcoins, I am talking specifically about the digital design of Bitcoins which is no less important. In my opinion logos, and branding are essential components for serious commerce and growing a wider audience. To give an example, I own an eCommerce website, on that website I allow users to switch between currencies. To do this they simply click on the currency symbols (e.g £). Symbols are an essential part of user experience, business identity and so on Tongue. If the design of Bitcoins is not much of a consideration then I guess that is a gap for people like me to fill.  Wink

Lol, well it is probably the font which I was not sure about in the first place. I will put some time into creating some nice looking versions, probably using the typical font and post them up. In the mean time I have an essay draft to finish up.  Smiley

I will be honest, I wanted the Bitcoin to look less like a Dollar. Tongue

I appreciate the effort, but it doesn't quite express the robust splendor of the bitcoin.

Because...I, as I'm sure most of us - love money.

I LOVE MONEY...

"But I love money. All money. I've always wanted money.(getting worked up again) To handle. To touch. The smell of the rain-washed florin. The lure of the lira. (standing on the desk) The glitter and the glory of the guinea. The romance of the rouble. The feel of the franc, the heel of the Deutschmark. The cold antiseptic sting of the Swiss franc, and the sunburnt splendor of the Australian dollar."

(from Monty Python)

Yes...that's the kind of feeling the bitcoin should have!

Back to the drawing board!

I think it needs to be more bold, aggressive, a coin-face that says "F**K YOU, FIAT!" in every line and edge.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I do plan on making the edges the same style as those found on British coins, not sure what you would call them. The finer details will take more time to complete though. I was also thinking I could introduce a map of the globe slightly raised behind the B which would symbolize a global currency.

If you would like to discuss my designs further feel free to msg me or alternativly search my name on Google, I am active on plenty of social networks. I would also trade digital web, graphics, illustration etc for some digital monies as I need to start somewhere. Tongue

Instead of just 2 vertical lines it should look like a B with an I and T behind it.

I think not. What is needed are versions of a known logos. Like BTC symbol on a crop circle, BTC symbol itself textured, "Bitcoin flower-power", etc.

Are you being sarcastic or do you want Bitcoins to look more "flower power" lol?

Anyway just to let anyone who is interested know, I have taken this on as more of a project. I am going to be posting my updates and new designs in the projects section here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=164905.msg1722017#msg1722017. If you do not have full post privileges yet, feel free to message me or something. Also who likes T-Shirts...? I am preparing to do a Bitcoin print run lol. Here is the fist design concept that I will likely stock.
