I am interested in ordering myself a couple of these but I don't want to wait a year to get them. The website says the wait time is 2 months for pre-orders, but is this accurate?

It says the first units are being shipped out the last half of March 2013, which was last month, so, any one know?

As of this morning, BFL has doubled the price for all new orders and reduced the hashing by 55%~.

If you click on "order item" you get a disclaimer stating that all new orders will take at least two months to ship.

I don't think BF will deliver these products. If they are able to make it why they are not creating bitcoin by themselves. It will be more profitable than selling devices.

This is precisely why I didn't order one. I saw it back in october or so when a friend pointed it out to me. REALLY thought about throwing in the bitcoins for the one that used to be like 650. Seeing that they STILL haven't delivered, I am glad I never did that.

Ya I don't really know how I ended up getting into the bitcoin thing last week, but ya I wanted a bfl miner too, that's what brought me here.

Unfortunately after talking to their PR guy and getting e-mails back with "lol" and "ru (are you)," my doubts were cemented about this ever becoming reality.

It's just not worth it, at this point, here let me make a thread about it...

It's pretty sure that you won't get your ASIC before massive amount of other ASICs hit the network.

I ordered a jalepeno a couple weeks ago.  I'm not sure I'll ever receive it.  If I do the difficulty may be so high by then that it won't do much good.

From the butterflylabs FAQ:

--------------
Q: Can I get a refund on my pre-order?
A: Butterfly Labs, INC. is accepting pre-orders for ASIC based products, expected to begin shipping in late October or early November 2012. Your pre-order with payment confirms your place in line for delivery once we begin shipping. Payments made for pre-orders of ASIC based products now under development should be considered non-refundable until products begin shipping or 1 January 2013, whichever is earlier.
--------------

So since they haven't shipped by January 2013, that makes payments refundable right? I'd be getting my money back if I ordered one, better than waiting until infinity and beyond. And if they are refusing to refund, I'd be getting my lawyer on it.

You can be absolutely certain it's not accurate. It's been 2-3 months for roughly a year now.

Is it worth gambling on? Nobody knows. If I knew the answer to that question I could earn a lot of money, either way.

With price rising, they obviously dont want people to start requesting refunds when they missed power effeciency. Also I dont believe orders made now will be delivered this year.

Makes sense.  Apparently, after they increased prices on all their ASICs, people who preordered will still get the hashrate they paid for (within 10%).  So that will discourage anyone from getting a refund for a preorder now with the hope of buying one later when (if) they do deliver.

Everyone keeps saying they missed their power efficiency, but from what I read in their announcement that was only for their first batch of test chips.  Hopefully they get it sorted out by the 2nd batch.
