Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

It was lagging pretty bad a while ago.
Too many guests, etc.
Hope that is the reason it is down

Bitcoin Central is also down

https://bitcoin-central.net

Bitcoin Central is from the same company as Instawallet.

Instawallets have been compromised and I assume that there is a strong relation to Bitcoin Central as well.
