Ask The Doctor, a Canadian medical startup has officially announced that they are now accepting Bitcoin on their platform to pay for their services through BitPay. The main reason for this is to increase customer privacy using Bitcoin’s anonymity benefits that credit cards cannot offer. Here is the source : https://cointelegraph.com/news/online-platform-ask-the-doctor-adds-bitcoin-to-payment-options-to-protect-privacyIt's being sometime since I last read about a new service accepting Bitcoin (probably since Steam started accepting it) , glad to know that there is more services that still does that and hopefully more to come !

That is a interesting off shoot, should help every one out here that googles any little cut to find out its a death sentence. I swear I went to my doctor and he told me I could trust certain sites and it never fails to point out that I am short for this earth and death is knocking for a minor cold or hang nail.
Wonder why they would add bitcoin, its a interesting development besides my biased towards online medical treatment help.

For the sake of hubbie's droopy willy of course. And it may not necessarily be for the beloved wife's benefit either.

Interesting, but I question how many people are going to pay bitcoin to ask an internet doctor medical questions. You can get a lot of info for free out there, after all. I could see if they were doing online consultations for drug-seekers (don't know if that still exists or not). In fact I think there's a place called CoinRx or something that, where they provide a really scumbaggy "doctor" consultation along with a prescription for muscle relaxants and hard-on pills. I can't condone such tomfoolery, but this place seems legit.

I think it's right that this thread is kind of service announcement. it's good to know this. it means that there are more services accepting bitcoin as payment. and probably many companies will follow the stepfoot.

Nice! However it's unfortunate that Bitcoin is not mentioned anywhere on their home page and it's not even in the 'how it works' section, they only mention PayPal and credit cards for payment methods. They probably have it listed at checkout but for a service like this where anonymity might be deciding factor for a lot of potential users, it would be a good idea to have a 'Bitcoin accepted here' logo on the home page to let Bitcoin-aware people know right off the bat that they don't have to reveal their real identities.

Probably the website is not yet updated. For some company, the website took some time before it is updated with their new features. Anyway, this is good news for bitcoin because another service accepts it as a mode of payment.

Glad to hear that more and more online stores and services are allowing payments made in BTC. Who knows? Perhaps we are entering a new phase, after years of stagnation.

That's good since more shop trust bitcoin now. It will surely cause more people to support bitcoin since a reputable store accepts bitcoin now. I hope that in the future more reputable store will accept bitcoin as a payment for us to see the price rise it will cause and of course we'll all benefit. Besides the price rise we can spend bitcoin more without converting to fiat. That's the best and want to see it happen.

I thought all online doctor consultations are free of charge I mean I have nothing against doctors earning some extra cash but come on this is like a tech support diagnosing your PC for problems over the Internet. I would prefer to go to a hospital and get answers face-to-face rather than asking my questions online. Plus if I am physically present for an examination the diagnosis would be more accurate I guess.

If it should be moved then to the Press section, because OP linked an article of a press website, it's not an announcement done directly by the service provider. Of course it's great to see this latest addition of new Bitcoin services. Even though Bitcoin is not really anonymous, there's a clear privacy advantage of using it for this kind of service compared to credit cards. Of course it's a bit disappointing that Bitcoin doesn't get more prominence on their website - but you really can't expect that, because Bitcoin is still far away from mainstream. It would be great to see medical practitioners accepting Bitcoin payments for real treatments. Maybe Bitcoin acceptance by a counseling website like ask the doctor raises awareness of BTC in the medical field... ya.ya.yo!
