That Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric video is great. And it made me realize that most people still don't really understand how the internet or email work, but they do their banking on it, go shopping, etc. So doesn't seem like the huge learning curve of bitcoin will deter people...they will just use it because other smart people do.

The only reason to limit the block size is to subsidize non-Bitcoin currencies

Exactly. Hell, I barely know what HTML is, and I've been doing this Internet stuff since I was seven. It won't stop anyone from using it whatsoever.

Why should he just keep his mouth shut? Let him make his own decisions. If they are wrong, he'll have to deal with it.

Trace is not trying to deny Michael Pento his right to speak but just offering him advice along the lines of [quote from article] "it is better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt".

But what's the point? He's not going to change his opinion because you tell him he's clueless. People rarely react that way, in particular when they already have a strong opinion.

So when they do come to their senses you have proof of "I told you so"

The point is that Trace can write a blog post about bitcoin. It's a rhetorical device rather than something that he expects Michael Pento to pay attention to, and if it does get the attention of Michael Pento and he reconsiders his views on bitcoin, well that's a bonus.

I doubt the post is targeted at Mr. Pento at all but instead those who might listen to and follow his advice. If anything it is tangentially targeted at Mr. Pento as some helpful business advice assuming he wants to retain a shred of creditability and not become irrelevant.
