Litecoin price WILL fluctuate too much until for some time, may be even a year or more than that.
Once bitcoins cant be mine with GPU, then the price of litecoins will increase further.
Buying litecoins with bitcoins is easier than INR.

seems like holding bitcoins maybe be more profitable then spending money on GPUs to mine litecoins. is there any kind of mining calculator to check on profitability. Just wan to check if my old gaming computer can do any good.

Holding some shares of ASICminer may be even better. Any one owned some their shares?

mining Litecoins with two GPU like 7950  at 1100 kH/s can give usd 23 per day.

We plan to add LTC within 1 month after we start off BTC trading on our site, but as i feel the volume will be less, we well have to make it possible to do,
INR -> LTC
LTC -> INR
BTC -> LTC
LTC -> BTC

But the last 2 trading pairs are risky in a way, so we'll avoid them as long as needed.

I just got a 7850 to try out mining litecoins. Cards run hot and the fans get noisy. It's not worth mining for more than a few hours unless you have a garage or spare room where it's ok to have computers without their side casings (no point mining at full speed unless there's strong airflow.)

As of now, I get no profit if I were to sell my mined litecoins at less than 125 INR (2.3 USD) per LTC at today's hash difficulty.

Edit: Changed cost estimate from 180 to 125. A pure mining rig can produce litecoins even cheaper but price isn't about cost, it's about market value.

Litecoins value can also be considered since it is an entry point into BTC for current adopters.

You can get between 40 to 50 litecoins per bitcoin on btc-e. I can assume that when litecoins and bitcoins reach their optimum market cap, 1 bit coin would get only 4 litecoins instead of 40-50 today (litecoins are undervalued by a factor of 10 in that case in relation to bitcoin.)

I'd rather convert litecoins to INR instead of BTC when I'm ready to sell litecoins unless there's a really strong market where I can exchange bitcoins for things such as e-books or sponsoring social causes.

Litecoins tied up btc rate. how you determine Litecoins value if it valuated by btc rate only, and nothing else.

Litecoin is most popular after bitcoin. this popularity can be leveraged for a solution to an important problem.

The idea of hiding ones identities.

Imagine in future that govt starts tracking all the btc transactions, links them to ip etc. Why not? They have more than required resources to do so. Once they are sure its your address your identity is tied in. Enter altcryptos! All the altcryptos can be used as a medium to hide identity in various ways. A needs to pay B & hide identity. For escrow situations, A will pay C in btc, C pays B in LTC. For self preservation. Enter any major exchange (within seconds), convert to any altcrypto & exit! Mix & match situations to your imagination.

For me altcryptos have huge value in identity encapsulation.
