I found out just now that my wallet was completely emptied yesterday. I never had opened the Bitcoin wallet up. I had been planning to move it over to an offline computer this week but alas too late. I have a good firewall, virus and malware protection. The only thing I did on this computer yesterday was install the Bytecoin client and set up solo mining...which I assume right there is the problem which opened the door. Kicking my ass right now but lesson learned. Luckily I never keep all my eggs in one basket. I had purchased some casascius coins and other is in escrow. Ugh I know it is "only" 5 BTC but at prices today I am sick. Noob mistakes for sure!

Bitmining software is a perfect target for unscrupulous malware people, as they know bitminers will have coins and codes lying around. I had mine stored on a wallet server, but now that bitcoin central got hacked I'm building my own codes offline. What makes this 'currency' attractive is also what makes it a goldmine for thieves...
