Can the admin open something like an official group/page on social networks like facebook? ( example: http://www.kickasstorrents.com , look at the facebook tab at the right )
It will be useful also a twitter account. ( and a twitter widget of course! )

I know that many of you probably don't like social networks, but this isn't the point.
I think that everything that can be useful to connect this project with people as many as possible ... is a GOOD idea Smiley

1) You can also add this to the homepage:
Code:
<iframe src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?id=362816109006&amp;width=292&amp;connections=10&amp;stream=false&amp;header=false&amp;height=255" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:292px; height:255px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
( you can test it on a simple html page )

2) Or this alternative:
Code:
<fb:like-box profile_id="362816109006" width="292" connections="10" stream="false" header="false"></fb:like-box>
But you will need also to add this after the head of page:
Code:
<div id="fb-root"></div>
<script>
  window.fbAsyncInit = function() {
    FB.init({appId: 'your app id', status: true, cookie: true,
             xfbml: true});
  };
  (function() {
    var e = document.createElement('script'); e.async = true;
    e.src = document.location.protocol +
      '//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js';
    document.getElementById('fb-root').appendChild(e);
  }());
</script>

Everything come from here:
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box

EDIT:
Now it has the right id Tongue

And this is about Twitter:

Search widget: ( I suggest this one )
Quote
<script src="http://widgets.twimg.com/j/2/widget.js"></script>
<script>
new TWTR.Widget({
  version: 2,
  type: 'search',
  search: 'bitcoin',
  interval: 6000,
  title: 'Say no to central banking – use Bitcoin, the revolutionary P2P currency!',
  subject: 'Bitcoin',
  width: 250,
  height: 300,
  theme: {
    shell: {
      background: '#8ec1da',
      color: '#ffffff'
    },
    tweets: {
      background: '#ffffff',
      color: '#444444',
      links: '#1985b5'
    }
  },
  features: {
    scrollbar: false,
    loop: true,
    live: true,
    hashtags: true,
    timestamp: true,
    avatars: true,
    toptweets: true,
    behavior: 'default'
  }
}).render().start();
</script>

Or profile widget:
Quote
<script src="http://widgets.twimg.com/j/2/widget.js"></script>
<script>
new TWTR.Widget({
  version: 2,
  type: 'profile',
  rpp: 4,
  interval: 6000,
  width: 250,
  height: 300,
  theme: {
    shell: {
      background: '#333333',
      color: '#ffffff'
    },
    tweets: {
      background: '#000000',
      color: '#ffffff',
      links: '#4aed05'
    }
  },
  features: {
    scrollbar: false,
    loop: false,
    live: false,
    hashtags: true,
    timestamp: true,
    avatars: false,
    behavior: 'all'
  }
}).render().setUser('profile_name').start();
</script>

Everything come from here:

Looks like someone is promoting Bitcoin independently, mostly in German. Doing a fair job, too.

There's also http://twitter.com/bitcoin (http://bitcoin.com), which is apparently entirely unrelated to this project. I wonder whether "BitCoin Ltd." could cause trouble with the name Bitcoin later on, because they registered a business under that name...

Satoshi? Sourceforge?

Sounds kinda ridiculous, I know, but I don't have much faith in the legal system anymore, so I think it _could_ happen...

I was just thinking of the trouble Mozilla had with 'Firebird'. Or take Google: They can't call Gmail Gmail in Germany, because a single, tiny company registered the name. Granted, that's a little different from an Open Source project, but still...

Look at what happened when Kaza was sued to find your answer.

This is why having several independent clients that talk Bitcoin would be a good idea.

Kazaa has been sued because it was easy to sue. Closed source, distributed by a single company on a single website in a single jurisdiction.

On the other hand, has a bittorrent client developer ever been sucessfully sued?
