Bitcoin has a proof-of-work system, so does the forum! Besides reducing robo-spam, it also gives you some time to search and read before posting a question (or theory about why Bitcoin will never work) that has been previously answered multiple times.

well, feel free to go start your own bitcoin forum, with your own rules, and blackjack, and beer, and hookers...

Lawl. Why would I need a forum with hookers and beer, whats the point
And other than this restriction thing, bitcointalk.org is great Wink

@RaTTuS
Thank you, I just posted over there.

it's a futurama reference. Any time Bender gets pissed off with the group, he threatens to go off and start his own thing, with beer...and..blackjack..and hookers....

I agree with the newbie restrictions and wished more forums would implement them!

I think as well that these restrictions suck. bitcointalk.org is the only site I know to have restrictions of this kind.

Oh I could think of at least one other, albeit a little less known forum, to have similar restrictions.  Wink

you have completed the required 5 posts and 4 hours logged in

You must provide evidence that shows that you either understand more about Bitcoin than the average newbie
The requirements look rather random to me. Also: does 5 random posts like this and 4 hours of hitting the reload button make me understand more about Bitcoin? I think not.
Agreed

Providing a 0.1BTC donation should automatically lift your restrictions.  Expensive enough to stop spammers, but low enough to allow long-time holders in?
