So, thanks to the great zogminer dev team (thanks omar!) we've finally got an open source ZEC Miner at launch:

https://github.com/nginnever/zogminer

You can point it to the pool after compliing with:

Code:
./src/zcash-miner -stratum=stratum+tcp://zec.suprnova.cc:2142 -user=suprnova.1 -password=x -printtoconsole -G

It (should) work with every stratum enabled pool.
It's currently alpha and pretty unoptimized, it gives about 10 H/s on a RX480, however, it's open-source and this is the first Release, so expect much more.

There is no Windows release yet, but it shouldn't be too hard to compile, I hope someone will eventually come up with windows binaries, for now you linux guys are lucky and compile with:

Code:
sudo apt-get install \
      build-essential pkg-config libc6-dev m4 g++-multilib \
autoconf libtool ncurses-dev unzip git python \
      zlib1g-dev wget bsdmainutils automake opencl-headers \
      mesa-common-dev

git clone https://github.com/nginnever/zogminer.git
cd zogminer/
./zcutil/fetch-params.sh

./zcutil/build.sh -j$(nproc)

There is a little confusion currently going on with hashrate display based on H/s or Sol/s ... It'll be fine soon.

I have no idea how you people are mining when you can't do something as simple as installing Ubuntu. And then copying and pasting a few build commands.

For me, it's not about the OS, it's about remote management options.

Find me something similar to Logmein in both terms of remote capability and security and I'll gladly switch all my miners to Linux and get off Winblows lol.

Well its either very good or very bad.

11H/s might mean 22Sol/s which is faster than that other miner in the other thread which reports results in Sol/s

Or its 11Sol/s which would make it twice as slow.

./zcashbenchmark -h bbbbbbbb -r 40
Quote
total time: 4495.690, 78 total solutions; 17.350 sol/s
round time: 4495/40 = 112ms

both miners shows same numbers, its comparable.

I have no idea how you people are mining when you can't do something as simple as installing Ubuntu. And then copying and pasting a few build commands.

I completly agree... and they require than other do the Windows compilation : do it yourself ! LEARN !

Then, do you have any benchmariking figures to put in the OP for cards that do work?

this version give me better result than nicehash miner, which is strange, since they appear to be the same, just a fork for your pool right?

i'm at 161 sol with 6x1070

edit...it seems that it has to do with the oc, by downclocking the mem i'm getting more hash

He's giving away a free GPU miner and found it easier to use the Linux based source of Zogminer. You are free to install Linux if you like, you might even find it more pleasant than Windows.

There is another Windows based miner if you would like to use Open Source ZEC (ZCash) GPU Miner AMD & NVidia (up to 18.5 sol/s on RX480) , or check the previous posts, there was a link to a compiled Windows version above.

Yes, as it stands now the other miner is probably a lot faster so a 4% fee is trivial in this comparison. But each to their own, those who prefer Linux can take the advantages.

That is right. The 4% fee is still much cheaper than buying the hashing from the Genesis mining direclty.

is this going to work with mainnet? do i have to reinstall it? update? upgrade or anything?

asking because of the key files that it creates using the fetch-params?

nheqminer_v0.3a_suprnova is producing only invalid shares it seems. Thousands of "unconfirmed shares" in the dashboard. In the terminal it says something like "low difficulty share".
That's with R9 Nano under Win7 64bit and 15.12 drivers.

Hi!

If I downloaded the compiled version for windows and want to try this out with my CPU and GPU (Nvidia) should I create a .bat file? And what should it contain?

Been some time since I've mined on my own PC lol.

You could try, but in general, any kind of mining on a laptop is a bad idea. They are not built for long term cpu-crunching and can be damaged due to overheating.
If you would like to try for the learning experience, sure go right ahead and try mining for a half an hour. The macbook will not survive a long term mining though and the components or motherboard could get damaged.

Hello everyone

First of all, thanks a lot for all the work and effort for creating this software. I am running Zogminer with Ubuntu 14.04, installation went fine thanks to a few good guides.

I've been doing some testing and I have two questions so far:

I'm not sure how to mine with 2 gpu's at once. Right now I have two terminals running. I executed these commands:

Code:
homas@thomas-B85M-D3H:~/wolf-xmr-miner-master/zcash/zogminer$ ./src/zcash-miner -G -S=0 -stratum="stratum+tcp://eu1-zcash.flypool.org:3333" -user=zcaZo9xjVvCTysk27gLzDizYMLntF4cBffHKGa8JHtPijjP5pdthNbsXizAQTicgsSpfWyyPXcT6vBnRZw4QEwApBc23RD5
[OPENCL]:Found suitable OpenCL device [Tahiti] with 2953838592 bytes of GPU memory
[OPENCL]:Using platform: AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing
[OPENCL]:Using device: Tahiti(OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (1800.11))
[OPENCL]:Printing program log
[OPENCL]:"/tmp/OCLv7VtPJ.cl", line 288: warning: integer conversion resulted in a
          change of sign
          v[14] ^= -1;
                   ^

Kernel run took 102 ms. (26.6447 H/s)

and
Code:
thomas@thomas-B85M-D3H:~/wolf-xmr-miner-master/zcash/zogminer$ ./src/zcash-miner -G -S=1 -stratum="stratum+tcp://eu1-zcash.flypool.org:3333" -user=zcaZo9xjVvCTysk27gLzDizYMLntF4cBffHKGa8JHtPijjP5pdthNbsXizAQTicgsSpfWyyPXcT6vBnRZw4QEwApBc23RD5
[OPENCL]:Found suitable OpenCL device [Tahiti] with 2955935744 bytes of GPU memory
[OPENCL]:Using platform: AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing
[OPENCL]:Using device: Tahiti(OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (1800.11))
[OPENCL]:Printing program log
[OPENCL]:"/tmp/OCLzHjFtl.cl", line 288: warning: integer conversion resulted in a
          change of sign
          v[14] ^= -1;
                   ^

Kernel run took 94 ms. (12.1063 H/s)
I don't understand the error on line 288. Anything I can do about that? Am I actually mining under these circumstances with both cards?

- Sometimes I seem to be getting an error:
Code:
Kernel run took 114 ms. (21.4216 H/s)
Kernel run took 79 ms. (21.4188 H/s)
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
What could be the cause of that? Is one of my card faulty of could it be a bug in Zogminer?
Oh yeah, don't mind my directory structure. I fucked that up for real, but I'm glad it's working Smiley

Keep up the good work. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

EDIT: I checked the temp on both cards. They are both mining, I believe:
Code:
thomas@thomas-B85M-D3H:~/wolf-xmr-miner-master/zcash$ aticonfig --adapter=all --od-gettemperature

Adapter 0 - AMD Radeon R9 200 / HD 7900 Series
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 49.00 C

Adapter 1 - AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 46.00 C
thomas@thomas-B85M-D3H:~/wolf-xmr-miner-master/zcash$

It's indeed very cpu intensive, with a dual core athlon x2 5x rx 470 8gb around 34s/s each card, the same setup but changed to a sempron 140 single core reduces it to 24sols/s each

May be hash cpu validity checking?
If that's so, it may be turned off at the expense of some invalid shares in the pool.

Best regards!

Built on Slackware-current 64 bit linux(has only mesa, no proprietary AMD driver), but not works:

Code:
./zcash-miner -G
Running the test miner
[OPENCL]:Found suitable OpenCL device [AMD PITCAIRN (DRM 2.49.0 / 4.9.31, LLVM 4.0.0)] with 2147483648 bytes of GPU memory
[OPENCL]:Using platform: Clover
[OPENCL]:Using device: AMD PITCAIRN (DRM 2.49.0 / 4.9.31, LLVM 4.0.0)(OpenCL 1.1 Mesa 17.1.2)
[OPENCL]:<unknown>:0:0: in function kernel_init_ht void (i8 addrspace(1)*): unsupported call to function get_global_id
Should OpenCL work with MESA 17.1.2?
