I have had the client running for 5 days now and am stuck at 92146 blocks. I ma consistently at 1 or 2 connections. I have done the add node thing which made no difference. I have got two transactions accepted and confirmed by blockexplorer but I guess they won't show on my client until all the blocks are downloaded.
Is there a way to reinstall the client and start again but keep the same address or is there another fix to this???
Thanks

Make sure you don't have anything blocking download of the block chain, i.e, firewall, peerblock, unforwarded router, ISP.

I had some problems as well (0-1 connections) and fixed it by adding a port forwarding rule (port 8333) in the router to my computer. Guess the client got some problems to connect if there is no non-established way back.

Sorry - I am a rookie. On my client I have a port number 8333. Should I change this? What do I do on my router? How do I forward that thing?

Google the model of your router and port forward. I don't know how each models UI so your going to need to find it online. There are lots of guide so it shouldn't be hard.

Sorry, it is port "8333" - mistyped it. Well, like swusc2 already wrote you need to search for your router in the internet and look for a tutorial. Look for keywords like "port forwarding <vendor> <model>".

Well I have forwarded my port to 8333 - no change to download. I unchecked the UPnP - no change. Changed the proxy IP address to my computers - no change.
What am I missing, why is it still stopped at 92146?
Am I able to completely start again then change my address to what it is now?

If you want to redownload the block chain.
Go to where your wallet.dat file is copy the wallet.dat file somewhere safe. Delete the entire folder the wallet.dat file is. Start Bitcoin it will recreate the folder. Put wallet.dat file back into the folder and tell it to replace.

Kill your client, wait an hour or more.... restart your client from the command line using the following switches... -rescan -noirc -addnode=ip.address.of.a.known.fallback.node -addnode=another.fallback.ip google "bitcoin fallback nodes" to find addresses, choose them randomly, not from the top of the list.

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

Actually, if you're using the new version, start it with -dnsseed

Here's the thing. I can't find a wallet.dat - even doing a computer search of it.

Now I just hope the transfer of the wallet works.
