I've been observing the blockchain and I noticed that it seems that after a miner has been successful, he has a much greater chance of also getting the next. I'm with slush and all of a sudden after a drought, he will get 2-3 blocks in a row in a very short period. Is there some statistical truth to what I am observing?

They are statistically independent odds.

Thanks - This would certainly need some analysis on how many blocks won by miners are clustered around recent ones. As we speak BTC Guild just mined 5 blocks in 42 minutes.
