Recently Elon Musk introduced a new design for solar panels that look like normal ceiling so you don't get the ugly looking regular panel look in your house. I think this will make people more prone to install solar panels on their houses. With this, we may see an increase in Bitcoin mining in a passive way. One house is nothing, but millions of houses mining would make a change.

The only problem i see is that apparently from the air (helicopter view) you can spot that they are solar panels, so this can make governments sanction those who install solar panels without telling the state that you did so. I really hate those fuckers. I wish we can reach a point where solar panels are impossible to tell from regular ceiling even from air distance too, then the total decentralization of electricity will begin since people will not be scared to get caught.

For now we have this

I really like this concept of solar roof instead of bulky looking solar panels and it will be nice to see ;
Decentralized free solar energy + Decentralized bitcoin mining = Decentralized bitcoin ecosystem

If more miners get into mining bitcoin may support bitcoin network and also due to free solar energy even small reward for them can be significant and be passive way to earn extra income utilizing fee extra energy which may get wasted.

This is great but do not forget this will become a tech available to everyone which means lots of additional miners and huge increase in mining difficulty. In that case Chinese again win cause they have access to cheap hardware.

Do you think a house roof's worth of this solar panel material will be enough to power an average mining rig be it for Bitcoin or alt coins? I highly doubt it people will have enough power throughout the day to keep their rigs running. Plus at night or in the fall and winter when there is not enough sun the whole operation will be thwarted.

Nope, even using the solar system are just cover a little energy for mining, you can't get the solar energy for fully 24 hours and We can't planted the solar system concept in the mining bitcoin, how many the energy are can be produced by 1 solar panels?

this is great, mostly for the environment and producing of somewhat easier and i think cheaper electricity but there is always one big problem with this technology and that is the fact that the initial investment is a little big and out of some people's budgets. especially if you want to make something like this on the ceiling and as a part of the house it is going to cost a lot of money to do it.

besides this technology is not available everywhere so most of us have to sit back and watch it from afar Smiley

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.

Solarcity I think ain't enough to support bitcoin mining everyday but it is a great idea. It is somewhat a form of passive income when it is very sunny so it is nice and it will also help bitcoin community and of course the house owners themselves because they will not pay any electricity bill at all. It will also cause many more benefits to them especially if they have an electric car or motorcycle. The only downside of it though is that it is expensive.

Advanced solar technology+bitcoin mining is a pretty awesome combination.

The solar energy won`t be 100% free. You will have to invest money, this technology is still expensive.

It`s a good idea anyway.

I do not care which country wins because going solar is the right direction. Imagine a Bitcoin mining farm that operates off the grid. That will be the beginning where Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general will start to stand on its own. What is also nice about it is it will encourage Proof of Work to secure blockchains which for me is the only true way.

I recently watched this video and the idea was quite mind blowing from tesla but found that cost of this is really high so it can't reach low or medium level users. It may need few more years for them to lower the production cost and make this available for really cheaper price. Than only we may see some one setting up these solar panels on their roof and start mining without paying anything as electricity cost.

Why all the fuss about mining if you could just sell the surplus energy you generate back to the power grid, to your energy supplier? Where such installations are common, this is usually not a problem. And beside solar energy, you could as well go for the wind power, which seems to require less initial investments while wind generators are typically more efficient than solar panels.

It's hard to believe how much money/energy people spend mining, is it still profitable against the big miners?

Hope this tech can help poor countries too.

if this happens i believe that it can once and for all shut those who say bitcoin is using a lot of power up.

using solar energy for generating electricity is the cleanest way and also the cheapest way, it may need a higher investment in the start but this can also cut so much of the expenses from mining farms and make mining more profitable for them.

The problem to overcome is the visibility of the panels from an upper distance. Governments will use planes to find out houses using this technology and I predict massive sanction fees will be delivered upon those that install this technology on their roofts without noticing to the government. It sucks but we have no way out unless you want to risk it. Hopefuly in the future we have 100% undetectable panels.

governments will use planes with high zoom lenses?? um noo
they will just look at electric companies and ask for records of all residents with £$0 bill or all residents with over £$XXXX bills.
£$0 = getting electric via other means
£$XXXX = probably growing cannabis with lots of heat lamps and ventilation.

results are faster and cheaper to achieve and seeing as law enforcement are paid a salary it costs nothing to order them to check out a few residents in those categories inbetween doing their true onduty jobs

of course governments are not gonna waste a year on a plane when they can get the same data more accurately in 5 minutes and double check it on foot within a couple weeks

The powerwall 2 is rated at 14kw/h storage and 7kw/h output priced at $5500. So do you think this will be enough to power an average home mining rig throughout the day? At night I assume people would need to use power from the grid because the battery pack would have already been depleted during the day.
