https://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/further-services/bitcoin.html

Did anyone see those news? I didn't see a thread here so im making it. It's pretty huge news, I think it went low on the radar because everyone is talking about 0.13.1 release and segwit, but this is also important. The fees are very low and you can go there with bitcoins in your pocket and enjoy shopping pretty much anywhere. What a nice country, too bad im too poor to be able to live there.

Yes, Switzerland is paving the way for an increasing Bitcoin adoption. We were discussing it already on the forum

https://sweepay.ch/ is the company which made this possible apparently

I was just reading this in cointelegraph a few minutes ago , great news ! Swiss was also the first country in the world to have a city where you can pay for public services with Bitcoin (according to CT) . I guess services accepting bitcoin is no longer an issue as they are accepting BTC one after the other , once SegWit and Lightning network are out , Bitcoin would be unstoppable.

this sounds like the same setup as zipzap which was gonna open up thousands of terminals in the uk and beyond for bitcoin sales. then nothing was ever heard from them again. it's cool all the same.

This is specially big because Switzerland is not a country that has enough size to consider 10.000 as small amount. In Switzerland 10.000 and growing means full adoption is comming soon. Pretty much ever kilometer would see one at this pace.

Switzerland is known to have a lot of banks who understand something of how to work with money.
I think I have heared the average monthly income in Suisse is somehow above 5000 dollars.
If they adopt bitcoin that strong, it's a good sign that with bitcoin we are all on the right path!

Switzerland chose path of non invasive legislation and supporting free business. That is why they haven't even tried to legalize/control/regulate cryprocurrency at all.
They know it is not big enough to kill it with bad regulations.

It is amazing, and at the same time, out of the blue news - AFAIK everyone will be able to buy bitcoin on every Swiss rail station from now on! It is better than dozen of BTMs in every city.

Who would have thought that Switzerland would be the first country to embrace Bitcoin like this. I admired them for many years, until I heard that they are working with the US to spy on people. I guess this is just one of the things these governments will have to do, if they do not want terrorism to succeed. ^hmmmmm^

Switzerland - Check, now onto the rest of the world. ^smile^

Switzerland is very modern and progressive country so I'm not surprised. Swiss people like new technologies so Bitcoin is logical follow up. They should be an example for other countries in Europe. This is also the way they will attract new businesses.

The article you posted mentions 10 000 locations worldwide as of now, it doesn't mean that they are going to open 10 000 terminals right now in Switzerland offering the service of buying Bitcoins to station passengers. But anyway this would be a great way of acquiring Bitcoin for Swiss citizens or people owning a Swiss telephone number which I guess is not a hard thing to obtain once you are in Switzerland.

Switzerland has been known to be a progressive country for a while now. If there's a country that could be leading the way towards bitcoin mass adoption, Switzerland could be it any day. Kudos to the ones in charge for making it possible for more people to experience using bitcoin in the real world.

Swizz leading from the front, first they have anaonoys accounts which of course can only be revealed under a strict inquiry and not normal circumstances. And it's super expensive spending there money. Now one can earn btc and reduce his expenses out there. I hope many countries follow suit. It's amazing to see them accept it.

Wow this actually is a great news and Switzerland is a major tourist location I was also planing to visit Switzerland in future. This many merchants accepting bitcoin will really help any tourist to make purchases at cheaper rates I think. This is real good news I am really surprised this flew so much under the radar.

as well as in Hong Kong, the place could have made most of the retailers accept bitcoin within a single day, but no third party plans that even though it is easy. you know that kind of payment should be implemented with bunches of trials to prevent ransoming.
congrats about the implementation of bitcoin in switzerland! Smiley

out of ability to use the signature, i want a new ban strike policy that will fade the strike after 90~120 days of the ban and not to be traced back, like google | email me for anything urgent, message will possibly not be instantly responded
i am not really active for some reason

The answer to the text in bold:

If you want a pre-paid phone number in Switzerland then you have to give your ID to the seller, he will make a copy of it and transmit it to the company from where the SIM card is ... if you make some bad things with that phone number police can find you easy as 1 2 3.

So buying BTC in Switzerland isn't that good as it seems. They will know you bought BTC or sold  using that phone number.

Space for rent if its still trending

If this is true then it would be a haven for all bitcoin user and owner.  I hope one day it also happens in my country where bitcoin payment is almost accepted in all stores and grocery stores.   It is okay with me if they will do some extra fee as long as I can make use of my btc.
