LTC is a strong currency that exists for so long, it is another version of bitcoin, it serializes bitcoin through the virtual currency system, however, it is unpopular, even it has been abandoned a long time. |

The most popular altcoins is ethereum, follow by ripple, nem, lisk, zcash etc. Ethereum is the most popular because of the tokenization of it ether. Like litecoin has lost it straight in the face of strong opposition, ethereum will also lost those strength one day especially when we find out that token coins are being hack daily because of the vulnerability of ether network.

I would say both measures are terrible as a measurement of popularity.
that's correct. also some point some coin can has lot of potential or buy sell orders. depends for product news but mostly now these ones |

For me, the most popular altcoins till today are litecoin and ethereum. Those two coins are already exist at most exchangers and a lot of gambling sites add them as alternatives payment beside bitcoin.

For me the most popular altcoin is ETH or Ethereum followed by NEM WAVES and LITECOIN because Ethereum is great and for a long term and it also provide cryptocurrency token called ether

Still pretty much Litecoin and Dogecoin for popular users base. For trading there are like of Ripple, Eterium and now Zcash. Litecoin was still one of the popular altcoin right now. yes, we got Ethereum, litecoin, ripple and many more that very popular and most used until now but don't ever forget about doge, back then in 2014 when bitcoin starting to got attention from people, beside it we have DOGE, even though i know it's popular because following the famous meme, DOGE is very memorable cause has a very friendly name that easy to remember, and may be every crypto user know about this coin  but about the development i never hear the dev is still work for it or not  |

Usualy i use https://coinmarketcap.com for looking for the most popular altcoins, you can check on there, many popular altcoins on there, and litecoin is still popular although the price is going down but doesn't mean litecoin is not popular, it is just fluctuation of price litecoin. That is really a good advice to some new guys. As for me, a popular altcoin means the potential has already been found and the potential is limited, so I would like to find some undervalued altcoin or some new coins from the ICO projects. At the moment, the most popular altcoin obviously is ethereum. With a market cap of $18,782,118,818 and a daily volume of $875,326,000 (currently) it has literally smashed the altcoin scene. |

Yup right, at that time Litecoin is popular. At present Eth is in the headline for many reasons. But actually you can not say that this particular coin is popular but in terms of market cap obviously ETH and XPR are popular along with LTC holding well in that area. |

With me, top altcoin in 2016 always popular altcoin. Ethereum, Dash, Litecoin, Zcash and Monero are the name hottest on altcoin market in 2016. However, by the growth market in early 2017 make the top altcoin changes and now this list not popular with more people.

Technically speaking the most popular altcoin is always the one with the higher adoption rate. So I guess it is now Ethereum , but it may change any moment again, and again and again  |
