This is a poll for Community Cryptocurrency Foundation's new coin.

Regarding the mining aspect, do you want a coin that is CPU & GPU & ASIC friendly (same hashing algorithm as Bitcoin, ?), CPU & GPU friendly (scrypt, ?), or just CPU friendly (GPU hostile algorithm, tweaked parameters, or as dreamwatcher suggested, increased network hashrate would result in increased parameters, ?).

I'm aware that ASICs can be made by scrypt, thanks, but it is much harder and existing ASICs will not be able to mine there.

I don't see how something can be "ASIC-proof." An ASIC is just an integrated circuit with a specific use - as implied by the name. Using a PC to mine is wasteful because your PC is also running windows and other apps and using power on means unrelated to mining.

I think POW coins should be and will be eventually mined by whatever can do so most powerfully and efficiently.

I would like to see a currency that doesn't rely on POW to secure the blockchain.

ASIC-proof as in existing 2step SHA256 ASICs won't work, and it is very difficult and costly to develop ASICs for it. There's also being some discussion of PoW only early on to distribute the coins, and using PoS.

See this, does not use PoW to secure the coin, but uses PoW to generate initial coins: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=166498.msg1738223#msg1738223

I personally like a CPU only coin, since BTC own ASCI, LTC own GPU

i think CPU only is best as this is most common and will be the most distributed

I wounder if you could make a coin that can be an app/miner and wallet etc on iphones and androids....that would be massive

also 2 billion x mobile phones is a potentially high hash rate

maybe MoC (MoBileCOIN)

Most people are voting CPU, in a fair manner it's pretty nice, since everybody would be able to mine a reasonable price, but how to avoid botnets? Any idea?

I guess we could gear mining towards "high end" CPUs, but that just leaves people with older computers out of mining.

If we go with what I proposed (coin generation is PoW, but blocks are purely minted through PoS), then botnets will not be able to 51%.

I take a different view

we should go for low end and specifically mobile platforms and PARTICUALLY ARM PROCESSORS

Yeah, let's motivate people to create botnets for Android!

I agree that only CPU-dedicated coin can gain massive popularity around the globe.
