Hi just downloaded Armory for the 1st time.  first off i didn't realise i couldn't run my full core node at the same time so it told me to close that down.

Then it says cannot find Bitcoin installation:  does armory look for my bitcoin core blockchain in appdata or does it connect to safe trusted servers like electrum ?

Also i see that v0.95 but i could only get 0.93 from the armory website, when i try to update it says "the secure downloader has not received any download to display . either the armory technologies inc. announcement feeder is down or this computer cannot access the server"

Any help would be great Smiley

edit: also when i hit try again to find installation it says "the bitcoin software still appears to be missing.  if you just installed it, then please adjust your settings to point to the installation directory"  how do i do this, im guessing this is the problem .....

and also why does Armory change my rpcuser and rpcpassword ?  is that normal

You actually can continue to run Core. First, start Armory. Then go to File > Settings and uncheck "Manage bitcoind automatically" (or something like that). Then start Core and restart Armory.

Then it says cannot find Bitcoin installation:  does armory look for my bitcoin core blockchain in appdata or does it connect to safe trusted servers like electrum ?
Armory requires the Bitcoin Core block files and Bitcoin Core itself as it uses Bitcoin Core as the P2P interface. It does not use trusted servers like electrum.

Also i see that v0.95 but i could only get 0.93 from the armory website, when i try to update it says "the secure downloader has not received any download to display . either the armory technologies inc. announcement feeder is down or this computer cannot access the server"
You are looking at the wrong Armory website. The new one is https://btcarmory.com

I don't think it should be changing it. However it will set the rpcuser and password if it can't find one.

Nope. That site is out of date, and once segwit activates, the version of Armory on that site (0.93.3) will no longer work. Unfortunately goatpig does not have access to that site as it is wholly owned by ATI and they will have the latest version of Armory that ATI developed (0.93.3).

The password is just a random base64 string (I think). Previous versions of Armory will add that there for the auto-managed bitcoind because that used to be the only way to ensure that the rpcuser and rpcpassword were correct. You should just get rid of it anyways since 0.95 does not need them. It uses the cookie auth the bitcoind now provides which is better than rpcuser and rpcpassword.

Delete the entire C:\Users\warren\AppData\Roaming\Armory\databases folder then restart. It will have to rebuild the databases, but that's fine. The database structure has changed since 0.94.0 which also changed from 0.93.3, so that may be causing the problems.
