Hello I've been working on a side project for about 3 weeks now. It's an android app that allows you to trade bitcoin on MtGox using their trade api. Description follows...

With Bitcoin Trader you can buy and sell bitcoin with your MtGox Exchange account. Now you can trade anywhere you want. As long as you have your android phone you won't miss out on any trade opportunities.

* Buy bitcoins
* Sell bitcoins
* View orders
* Cancel orders
* View account history

MtGox account required.

New features are being constantly being implemented, have a question or suggestion send us an email.

It's not much of a description but then again, I'm a coder not a publicist.

Please please please make an iOS port if possible. I would love to use something like this but I don't have any Android devices.

This'll be really useful for me, just the sort of thing I need as I find myself "trapped" away from my computer far too much these days.

Just a humble (and perhaps slightly selfish) suggestion: might you consider open sourcing the code? I'm always wary of 3rd party clients and my personal accounts, especially with something as important as this, and it'd be very reassuring if you did.

I'll look in to open sourcing... Maybe if I receive enough donations.
How about I set a some donation goals. I can only think of two, considering I have AdMob ads in place.

1. If I get a total of 10 btc I'll remove the ads.
2. At 20 btc I'll opensource it.

Hi Dazoe:

With all respect to the work you have done so far:

Open sourcing IS a prerequisite to gain trust in a community like this (and most other communities also). I do understand that you would like to receive something back for what you do, so keep the ads there if you wish. In another scenario, if you do indeed show that your produce is good enough and secure enough (by exposing the code), you can certainly ask for donations to provide user-suggested upgrades and customizations.

But no open source is a no-go, at least for me. I've been on the Internet since 1995, and I have NEVER got a virus, because I decided that I'll be careful from the beginning. And since bitcoins are money nowadays, I would never download something which does not expose its source code to the community.

With that said, we all should be free to do as we wish, so good luck with your project.

Fiat no more.

You make good points. I've never done an open source project. I'm just not sure about how to go about doing it. Also keeping the ads in the project would not be good on an open source project because someone will just take them out recompile and redistribute. That being said I am open to suggestions on how to open-source. But finding the right licence would be key.
