You would have to be specific about their request but tbh you kind of had that coming. Paypal is known for freezing funds and selling btc and having the funds sent to paypal is basically asking them to lock your account and freeze your funds. You could say you sold goods or service, but other than that you *might* be SOL. Good luck!

+1, but I just think, the paypal will asking about the prove of your transaction and that's why will not recommended for using paypal to making any transaction about bitcoin, although the PayPal are already making any partnership with coinbase but they still strict their users.

Yeah you are right guys, you just need to show them proof of your transaction to be successful with your transaction that has been done with bitcoin. Maybe show him the blocktrail link, forget about the partnership first. As long as paypal is still not accepting bitcoins, you must comply with what they are asking or else your account will be freezed.

If you sold BTC and received Paypal you are in big trouble ...
Paypal dont just asking about payments, they need proofs too. If you tell them that you made a exchange, your account will be bannded for up to 180 days. (their TOS does not allow this). Also there is a high risk to get some chargebacks and these amounts are deducted from your balance.

You are in real problem brother, paypal strictly restrict buy and sell of bitcoin using paypal. Where you have sold your bitcoin for paypal? If you are selling your bitcoin over localbitcoin or in this forum ask buyers to pay you in personal payment rather than paying for goods/services. However its always advised to cashed out immediately from paypal after you receive payment for selling bitcoin.

Paypal does follow the rules, and well you used the wrong service to make the exchanges of bitcoins into paypal, its quite sure your account funds will get frozen as they do see you made exchange with them, maybe you can get lucky if you say you are a developer or make or get some digital product page, the problem should be that the products has the same price and your transactions wont match, well i dont know what to advise, but you are in trouble.

This is why PayPal is not fit for bitcoin, because they're too much asking your personal data, even income data. It might be bad if OP used service to earn bitcoin which against their ToS.
I have bad experience with PayPal account, it's frozen my account 3 times.

hello
i sold many btc for paypal
now paypal asked me about payment received
what i can tell ? how can i give them evidence?

You would have to be specific about their request but tbh you kind of had that coming. Paypal is known for freezing funds and selling btc and having the funds sent to paypal is basically asking them to lock your account and freeze your funds. You could say you sold goods or service, but other than that you *might* be SOL. Good luck!

But However you need to show the proof of transactions to bitcoins right. They very strict with people but still most  the scams were happening behind the Paypal with its name.

So far I didn't hear that PayPal has asked someone about the transaction. Maybe they have suspected that it was selling Bitcoin transaction. Maybe you have mentioned it somwhere in description?
So many people have their PayPal account freezed or limited because of their strict policy especialy towards Bitcoin so you might expect something similar.

While honesty is a good policy if you do that in this particular case you will get your funds frozen immediately, PayPal does not like to deal with bitcoin transactions at all, personally I think the OP is in big risk of getting limited or his account frozen.

Honestly, don't tell them about bitcoin. They will right out confiscate your money and ban your account. Instead tell them something to throw them off, like a friend was misusing the account or something and you didn't know. This way they will ban your account but will atleast give you the money back. Happened to a friend of mine on neteller and he had all his money confiscated.

I would use the above post as well as maybe telling that that you sold digital items or make up some services you bought or sold like web design well good luck and hope you don't lose u funds and stay away from paypal from now on while you deal in bitcoins

Or just stay away from paypal altogether. I personally rarely use paypal and if I do its to buy stuff off of ebay (wish ebay would accept bitcoins that would be a life saver). Not even my business is using paypal (we have but because of their policy changes, we rather not deal with paypal until they get their crap together). Hopefully you will learn never to buy or sell bitcoins with paypal because 8/10 they will find out and freeze your account, take your money for 6+ months, and you would be basically screwed. Use localbitcoin, use circle, coinbase, or some type of exchange instead which would have a lower chance of having your funds or bitcoins taken.

Another fucking knucklehead starting a vague topic with too little detail for a real answer--and then he abandons it.  Probably so his alts can come swooping in with the shitposts.

If the dilemma here is real, yeah you had it coming.  Paypal and bitcoin really aren't supposed to mix well and I do believe it's against their TOS to buy or sell bitcoin with PP.  But again, there's no way of knowing what your situation is, because you couldn't be bothered to include detail.

He just used his paypal for receiving the profit he got from selling his bitcoins. It is just like you are selling bitcoins and I'll pay you with my paypal funds.

Or I will buy bitcoins with my paypal funds transferred to you. I think this is already good explanation to enlighten you.

hello
i sold many btc for paypal
now paypal asked me about payment received
what i can tell ? how can i give them evidence?
This is really serious, but I am wondering if you did not know how paypal operate before taking that risk.  Before you accept that paypal for bitc, you should have told the paypal sender to put some fake information in the transaction memo as gift, pay for so so and so so, I think that would have saved you.

This is just one of the many reasons why we should avoid Paypal as much as possible...like a big toothache. I know that soon Paypal will be losing a big chunk of its business due to Bitcoin and it is now extremely jealous so be careful.

First off, how was the payment received?
By good and services then you can not claim that you made a sale because there is no shipping so no proof.
They don't allow you to make too many payments by family and friends either. Embarrassed

you must know that paypal can't monitor every transactions and they will eventually figure out which one is the most suspicious or having such characteristic of fraud transaction / cryptocurrencies transaction or anything like that.they will asked about it and asking for few evidence to give you pass and cancelling the accusation of being suspicious

I am surprised by the interest PayPal for payment. What do they matter? Their business just deposit money and earn a commission from it. Why complicate the lives of their customers

Where you using coinbase for selling bitcoin for paypal? If yes, than I don't know why they want to freeze you. Paypal's services are strange, they offer some things and are doing another things.
Now what they want from you is proof of your transaction and if you have unverifyed account, than it's verification. But there are still high chanses to be freezed from paypal.

You can't sell Bitcoin from Paypal, but you can sell Bitcoins for Paypal money (from another person or exchange).

I'd just be honest with them if I were you, and see how it goes, as long as you pay your taxes.

Oh my.,
I guess you need to be specific on every payment you made using paypal, there are many issues now using paypal nowadays especially account freezing where your money can not be withdrawn and that is the worst of that you can not withdraw after so many transaction you made. I guess you have to contact for paypal service right away and show some proof of your transaction where you earn that amount and make some negotiation. I guess it can help you on that way.
We need to think many times before using paypal nowadays because of these issues. Maybe we need to learn from this one.
OP, tell us what did you do if you surpass this problem so if in the future if we have the same problem we know what we gonna do.

Yeha, it's something that's true. If we want to sell a bitcoin and exchanged with paypal money is the right thing, but if we want to sell paypal and money exchanged for bitcoin it is something wrong. Because until now, paypal has not formally decided that bitcoin is a digital currency that they approve for use in transactions in its products. so this is all something is very wrong

You did not mentioned if your account is verified or is it a business account, paypal will question your transactions if you are an unverified user and all your transactions are also coming from unverified source..

Anyway as long as their are no disputes paypal will not limit your account but transactions should be merchants to buyer if it involves crypto currency, honestly I still haven't explore their tos about selling and buying crypto currency using their flatform but had experience selling virtual goods like e-book..

As far as I know dealings with cryptocurrency are absolutely forbidden by PayPal so unless the opener is able to create some kind of evidence that backups some other way for which he obtained the funds he is going to probably get his account frozen.

This is not true.   Even without disputes PayPal can and will lock your funds and ban you for life.  If they even remotely suspect anything against their ToS, ban.   I had my account blocked for trading on LBC.   Not a single dispute.   They held my money for 6 months, and I am still not allowed to use PP.

It is inevitable that any bank that will convert your Btc to fiat will need to abide by their regulatory jurisdictions. In this case, KYC documents will need to be done. They will want to confirm your identity, confirm the source of the funds and why you are receiving them. Especially a publicly traded US company.

Yea, you had this coming. Good luck, and please let us know how it went.

what i can tell ? how can i give them evidence?

This is one of the reason I wont use this paypal of a thing. What is their business in where I get my money since I am not doing anything illegal but because they also will want to protect themselves so they wont be accused of aiding money laundering anyway you have to find something to tell them and move your funds else where.

You can tell them the real truth that you have exchanged e-currency. Purchased paypal and given Bitcoin.
Hope it'll get you getting access back to your paypal account? By the way...Did paypal limited your account about it?

If he told them the truth, his PP account will be banned. The problem is really big. I've used sometime PP but never to "exchange" big amount of BTC.

So far there have been so much of this cases when dealing with paypal to bitcoins and vice versa. The person using paypal will sometimes file a complaint with paypal and they always win because paypal doesn't really allow their users to buy bitcoins with their service. Also, you can't really prove you sold bitcoins to another person via paypal, because a singular account on bitcointalk or a bitcoin address cannot be linked to a paypal user.

The paypal account will be banned indeed, it's against their TOS because paypal don't accept bitcoin yet and I don't think what's the reason behind this, skrill and neteller already decided and confirmed that they accept bitcoin, what the heck this paypal don't follow. That's why time will come paypal will go down. Though I have verified paypal account the reason is because I have some item to buy that this shop dont accept bitcoin yet.

There's a big risk if you are exchanging to sell crypto currency,it's a violation of their tos,if you are going to sell your account should be a business type and you use their cart ,they are asking about the funds that you are receiving that means they noticed usually activity in your account, you have no choice but to to be honest and face the consequences, this is one of the thing I hate about paypal.

Thats one issue about Paypal, its too regulated for my liking and they can even place a ban on your account and will also be doing it legitimately... Your own money?. I will suggest you provide them with a convincing argument because going with the truth might even put your account in harms way... All the same, its a lesson not to rely fully on Paypal they are good in poke-nosing in what does not concern them...

It looks like you are going to be restricted any explanation will be futile, paypal is more wiser than you think, they can see the data transactions history,I hope all your funds are out of that paypal before they restrict your account,I  think this is one of the things that make paypal rich, restrict account and hold until the owner cannot get it back.

I think he wants ideas on things to use as an excuse. What would you sell and how would you prove it ? You would need transactions and that is fine but now you need to say what you sell. Stocks ? Bonds ? Then you need to show the find being sent to some sort of company. Ypu should habe though about this dude. This is ehst happens when you dont think things through and habe a plan for this because you knew it would happen one day eventually. I would setup a company that sells shares and say they buying shares and since you own thst company you can sent a proper receipt as proof. Paypal doesnt need to know what thst company does only thst you buying shares from them. Or setup this with a friend? Just pay him and he will pay you back.

This is why PayPal is not fit for bitcoin, because they're too much asking your personal data, even income data. It might be bad if OP used service to earn bitcoin which against their ToS.
I have bad experience with PayPal account, it's frozen my account 3 times.

me either , i had 3 paypal accounts and they asked for proofs and i was banned

Are you sure about that? I've been using paypal for a lot of years I just encountered with a single problem about transferring my balance to my bank.

Because when I requested that, a problem did occurred and my money didn't credit to my savings bank account.

But upon reporting that problem with the paypal team, it was resolved smoothly.

hello
i sold many btc for paypal
now paypal asked me about payment received
what i can tell ? how can i give them evidence?

You are in trouble dude of this, I guess it is hard to let them see the proof you have even the transactions you made between you and the buyer.
Especially when you have big amount of dollar in your account.

Yes dude, paypal is not that recommended now because of some issues, and I am afraid for you dude, your account might be freeze so better contact someone who really in this field. Better leave paypal and start using bitcoins.

Its seems there is nothing anyone can do about the menace of paypal and its obvious that they dont want to have anything to do with bitcoin because whether we like it or not, bitcoin and paypal are competitors because the more people use bitcoin as a means of transaction then the loss of revenue for paypal in terms of transaction fees and the likes. OP is not the only one having issues with Paypal as I also have had my share with them

What you are said make me confused,
Did you mean are you exchange bitcoin to paypal in the exchanger?
Then after change your balance on hold by Paypal?
If you mean it like that, chances are the Paypal holding your account because they check, if your account has not been verified of course you should verify with the credit card data. I suggest to carefully use Paypal, because supervision is manual, very risky save big money on Paypal.

I dont know how you can proof that.I see many comments here that it is not legal to exhange bitcoin to paypal.I suggest to stop using poor paypal payment service and user other services.Maybe they allow only payments only from coinbase so they ask for proofs. If they are partners with coinbase and you changed with some kind of exchanger then they will not give you access to your account but maybe you can tell that they send you back your money to your bitcoin wallet and everything will be fine and then if you want widrawal your money you can send money to bitkonan and then from bitkonan to your bank account with very low feees.I created paypal account 1 years ago and  I putted type of account business and I asked the to change to personal but the have poor TOS and poor  support so to delete that account I needed to pay some amount of money but I didnt I only stopped to use paypal account.

There's really two parts that make this a problem:
1. Paypal.
2. Your money.

Paypal loves peoples' money.
Paypal doesn't like people.
That slogan they have, about "new money"?
That's them, looking at peoples' bank accounts and going "Ohhh NEW money!" like James Woods goes "Ohh piece of candy!" in two or three Family Guy episodes.
The BTC exchanging gave them a legit excuse, them asking you about it is just a bit of courtesy, a bit like "do you like strawberry- or raspberry-flavored lubricant?" before they have your way with you.

We know paypal and bitcoin both have each advantages so if we talk about payments, yes paypal normally get fiat currency amount online as their mode of services paid by customers online for their buying needs. If paypal asked about payments it comes to any point that the customer bought bitcoin using paypal account, and he/she must be obliged to pay for it and make sure to deal with legit people who sells bitcoin online through paypal.

You can create a scam accusation thread so you can warn more people as a lot more people look at that thread when checking for the reliability of that website. That would be you best bet to warn people about that site because here there is a limit number of audience, only people looking to discuss about the market place.

Just tell them the  truth, they will not hold your funds as long you can give them a valid reason and evidence. Just tell them what exactly you did and it will be ok. Dont be scared as long as what you did is legal.

Paypal= we'll f**k you and you'll say not a word, I don't know how is it possible to receive funds in an unverified account and then spend the funds yet any need for answering their questions? can't you create invoices manually and receive money like you are selling something specified in the invoice?

I think its not a good idea for now to deal with paypal if you are selling bitcoin and if buyer is not trusted they can reverse the payment and even you are telling the truth giving the transaction id is enough because i think they do not know it .. and the buyer can say that he do not know him or his account is hack.. So in order to be safe better to go in safety place like here look for trusted buyer in bitcoin here with high rank accounts and use escrow ..

if by "Asked" you mean a polite Email wondering about the source/deal of funds, I don't think that would be much of an issue, I doubt they would even question you about it rather than just measuring the risk-scale for doing business with you.

if you mean a chargeback, then the amount you sold for BTC is most likely won't be coming back, PayPal is siding with the buyer particularly with digital goods/ bitcoin. even with chat and tx's, most likely they will refund back the payment.

Paypal is very funny when it comes to disputes and when you give them that digital goods story you lose the case, so telling them the truth about source of funds won't do you any good especially with bitcoins involved.

Paypal should only be used to receive or send payments for merchandises.  You must also have a tracking number for your purchases/sales.  If there are any disputes and you're unable to provide a tracking number, you're almost guaranteed to lose.  Paypal is not your friend when it comes to cryptocurrency transactions.

The most effective method to deal with bitcoin trading into fiat is to find exchanges in your country/city, forget about paypal and their stupid rules.
I only showed my bank plastic card kept close to my face and sent a screen shot and every time I want to buy or sell bitcoin or any e-cash/money/currency I simply select from a list and then send them my coins to receive money in bank account and no one is asking anything from me whatsoever.

So if there are better options than paypal why do you even bother to go the hard way?

You are in real problem brother, paypal strictly restrict buy and sell of bitcoin using paypal. Where you have sold your bitcoin for paypal? If you are selling your bitcoin over localbitcoin or in this forum ask buyers to pay you in personal payment rather than paying for goods/services. However its always advised to cashed out immediately from paypal after you receive payment for selling bitcoin.

Just like you said, paypal does not allow to sell bitcoins using paypal, that's why many people that sells bitcoins, gets their payments using banks, because then they can avoid problems like this or even chargebacks. I advice you doing this too in future, and my advice is that you shouldn't lie to paypal at all because i heard stories that they freeze funds for even longer then.

hello
i sold many btc for paypal
now paypal asked me about payment received
what i can tell ? how can i give them evidence?

Well, let me throw more light here. the contribution of some of the member's are correct too.

1. Paypal don't just ask for proof or evidence of each/specific transaction except there is something fishy going on either from your part or from the person to whom you sold the bitcoins to. vice versa.

It also depend of your previous on this account i.e if, you normally have small activities on this account per month & suddenly, there is an increase in activities & increase  in incoming fund into this account. Believe paypal will raise  flag⚐⚐ against you.

Please, don't mention bitcoin, someone has earlier suggested that you should come up with any story i.e you can tell them that you left your computer in the sitting room and one of your younger brother/sister log-in to your system and perform those transaction.

This will work out well if, you've traded for a few days from same ip address.

I hope it help.

Regard's
