Since I often get colleagues at work asking me how to buy bitcoin, I decided to elaborate a reference page with instructions for each payment method, including several trusted sites.

Here's the page:

http://howtobuybitcoin.io/

My aim was to:
  • Provide guides for the simplest payment methods, being: credit/debit card, SEPA transfer, PayPal, wire transfer, cash payments
  • Keep presentation simple, so as to help new users feel at ease when searching for how to get btc online
  • Recommend exchanges/services having received a good acceptance within the overall bitcoin community
  • Give priority to interesting related information (such as recommending looking into the price history of btc), with extra tips for users.
  • Include both high-volume bitcoin exchange sites and their smaller (generally more user-friendly) counterparts.

Could I get your feedback and your overall impression? Should I be adding any important information for newbie bitcoin users looking to buy easily? At this I point have received some reviews from friends and colleagues concerning my page, and I would be very interested to hear all available advice from the perspective of experienced users and newcomers in the bitcoin space.

Thanks.

It's good.  Much better than some sites full of referral links I've seen people posted.
The url is pretty good too.  I'm sure lots of people will land there with search engines given time.

You could probably add a warning about chargebacks when trading bitcoins using paypal between users.

Trusted an exchange that climbed to the top 3 in just under 2 years with your money? you are fucking stupid.

Thanks for the advice, feedback, and recommendations. I do agree that there are alternatives out there that are not so clearly structured with too many links. I do hope it's picked up by search engines. For now I'm spreading the word by sharing with people around me that actually need the assistance to know how to buy btc with a card or using a transfer. And yes - great idea about adding the PayPal chargebacks information. I'll stick that into the guide.

The website has all the information that's required. However, it would be better if you have four tabs/categories mentioned on the home page (credit card, paypal, cash, bank transfer) and redirect users to the individual pages instead of having all the information mentioned on the Home page. You can also mention which countries are accepted by these exchanges as Coinbase is restricted only to US users and you've mentioned this information for Bitpanda.

The design is pretty good, I actually like that it's all on one page and that it's easily readable.
But you have a few spelling mistakes on there.

Next to the Bitstamp image:
Bitsamp is rapidly gaining popularity in Europe

And you should've posted this in 'Project development' Wink

I really like it and the design look pretty clean and its easy to browse too. If you could only change the font to the one used at Medium.com articles and blog posts that would make it even better , another thing to consider is the payment methods , you should list them at the end of each exchange , after finishing what you want to say you should add at the end :

Quote
Accepted payment methods : X , Y , Z ...

IMO , this should make it easier to read .

Site is looking very nice, i think its great for beginners, with almost every information they need to know about bitcoin, write more tips for them too, like what kind of sites they need to avoid and so.

that's a great looking site but no mention of circle? that's probably the best way for newcomers to get bitcoin if they're in the right country. no verification and you can buy coins nearly instantly and usually for less than coinbase.

A very good, clear-cut site. I also agree that I prefer it over some others full of advertisements and whatnot.
Will definitely have it bookmarked. ^^

How about you consider adding bitcointalk.org? At the marketplace, people can also buy/sell bitcoins and also have the service of escrows for safer transactions. Although admittedly, this might not be so easy to understand for beginners, but it is still a good place.
Knowing about and having access to the forum will also help further their understanding of the bitcoin community.
(This should of course, come with appropriate warnings and tips for safety.)  Tongue

bitcointalk is a shark pool at the best of times and newbies are here every day crying about being scammed. someone reading that ain't gonna know what an escrow is, let alone any of the other nuances. way better to leave it out completely.

There is that.  Tongue  Tongue

OKay, maybe not as a place to buy bitcoins then,(they'd get eaten alive, bones and all), but I still think a link or an introduction to the forum. This is a really good place to learn and know all about bitcoin, as well as a very lively community what with all the Drama. The forum would certainly spark more interest as it's fun. So, it'll still be better for the long run.

It's not just about knowing where to buy but making them sustain that interest long enough for them to have fun not just in earning but with the community as a whole.

Okay, I'll hide away now. lol.   Kiss  Have a nice weekend people, and again, I liked your site OP. ^^ Truly.

But its best to inform users bout this forum just so they learn about the community and what awaits in the future when one day they get to register.  The sooner they know the dangers here in the forum the better. Those new users which you introduce bitcoin will once day experience something unusual and they will come here to ask.

Cool website, it is very useful for beginners to understand basics of bitcoin. I also like how you added different websites explaining each one and telling the public
what they are used for. Now, I do not know how beginners will see your website, but If any one has beginner questions in the forums, you can just link them straight
to the website so maybe that way they can learn more and your website can be effective.

This is a great website, and thank you for making this! Hopefully, this is made a sticky at some point in the future.
Here are the pros that I see on your site:

1) Background info on these different sites
2) Images
3) Good color scheme (attracts the visual senses)
4) A good coverage of types of ways to get bitcoin.

For the future, I think it would be useful to add ways to transfer from one payment processor to another in regards to lesser known processors, such as Payeer, for example.

All in all, good site. This will definitely help many people on this forum.

This area is up for grabs! PM me if you're interested.

Clean design and all links are clean non-ref links which is nice. However i recommended you to have atleast one banner ad in middle or somewhere to keep your site up and running. Instead of ad you can also put your bitcoin donation address on bottom area. Thanks for putting effort on making this site.

Well, the thing I really liked about the site is that it is Ad-free. It's what made it different from all the other info-sites I've seen.
@OP, it would of course be up to you, but if you really need some way to help with the up-keep of the site, please consider adding a bitcoin donation address instead. Especially since an Ad or two wouldn't really generate much of a revenue, and too much would end up cluttering the site.

that is a page for only for buying bitcoins that is why he did not have added any info for installing  the wallet and it is a common sense that if a person will go to buy bitcoins then he will already have some source for it to keep in.

hmm... wasn't expecting the site to be this good
op put a lot of work into it and what I liked most-didn't spam reflinks for the sake of it
if I was a newbie I'd find a lot of useful info
think you should include your recommendations of bitcoin wallets with direct links, both online like blockchain.info and coinbase (as a wallet, not a source of buying bitcoins)
and software like Mycellium etc.
because the list of wallets you link to might be confusing to a newbie
